Why bother having a BP when you cover it up with other patches?

honestly, i started off with just a few, and it wasn't covered. i started overlapping on the front, and decided i liked how it looked with a lot more patches. it gave me more options. you can still see what the backpatch is, and it doesn't cover up the band name. that's pretty much my only rule when i add to it nowadays, i personally prefer this style to a sparse or not overlapping pattern. and because it's my kutte, with patches i have collected for roughly 19 years, i decided it would be better to decide how it's going to look based on what i like, as opposed to what other people like. i hope that answers your question.

Although my own jacket doesn't have any overlapping patches (well, just a little), I do like this somewhat chaotic look. It gives you something to look at in every spot on the jacket and gives it a feel of some history. It's basically one big picture of bands you like, now. Great.

It's like geologic layers of bands. You can tell the fresh ones because they're still bright. I think the vest will look better the longer you wear it and let the new shiny ones get a little dingy.

Every once in a while i get a slew of patches and just change up a section or two of it. It's never really done. But I agree, I should let it go long enough to pick up a little grunge.
