That's what I make if it's too smelly.
joecubbie
Exactly! Lol the sweat, blood, and beer from shows is what makes it even more awesome haha!!!
gizter on
maybe lay it in a bath/tile of warm water with some soap or whatever.

thats repulsive
PForx on
NO.
If people say your vest smells, you look at them with pride and say "fuck yeah!"
I'd love to be known as "the smelly guy" (for all I know I may already be known as that)
gizter on
you definitly strike me as ''that smelly guy''. ;)
PForx on
Hahaha, that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me! :)
Freyjawulf on
+1! Totally better to smell of human aroma than soap and chemicals!
PForx on
Yeah, and I thought a little dirt and grease was part of being a metalhead.

I confess to washing my vest a few times (When there were only a few patches) but now there's quite a few, I Wouldn't want to put it through the washing machine! There's cleaning foam you can buy in a spray can that does the job (it's for carpets, but it works on clothes too) Never understood the "Anti-washing" thing. Why the hell would you want to smell like a tramp's arse crack?!
DethronedEmperor23 on
yeah if your vest stinks, do something about it. That shit is grimey and i dont wanna smell that shit the whole show. But never put a vest through the wash, itll ruin the patches

Fill the bottom of the bath with water and pour the some detergent/powder for sensitive clothes/materials. Leave the jacket soaking in that for few hours and then hang it on a radiator for a day to dry.
This is the most effective yet the most delicate method and it will even leave painted patches virtually untouched.
Nater90 on
I just have mine on a coat hanger and let it air out after I go to a show.
As for cleaning if it smells rank, I'd suggest napalm...
Bayernpirat
go into a car wash
Freyjawulf on
Yep, this. If it's really really bad, diluting some vinegar with water and spraying it on the stinky bits before leaving it in the sun helps alleviate the aroma too.

I've found that if you button it and turn it inside out before you wash it your vest won't fade as much.

Go for a walk in the rain
DeathRipper on
Rub a dryer sheet on it and hang it outside, or like quixotic said, walk in the rain.

Take a shower with it

this is exactly the way I have used to wash my old Kutte some years ago - it had to dry for 3 days

If the patches on your vest are woven or embroidered, turn the vest inside out and get it into the washing machine, end of the story.
A friend of mine washes his vest (he has only woven & embroidered patches on it, of course) at least once a month and none of them have faded so far. They're w or e , remember...they won't fade, nor would they peel or rub off or anything
C'mon guys...I can't believe you can get this dirty...
whiteravenmetal on
use a hose and some soap
Starscream on
This may sound abit strange but if u get a big fuckoff industrial size pan, fill half of it with water, bring it to boil and put yor vest in that, use yor normal detergents as u would with a washing machine wash, then after 15 mins u take that out, put it into another pan of boiling water to let the soap n shit out n then hang it out in the sun and breeze, itl smell good and itl be soft like kittens
vikingdantheman on
Get on a motorbike and try to outrun the smell. A days riding (@100km/h+) wearing your vest over a leather jacket
and you may be able to lose it.
Or choose people to hang with that are equally if not more smelly than yourself, they wont care or notice ;)>>>
PForx on
I'm all for that second option.
gizter on
yeah, i need you as friend so people wont think that i am ''some homeless guy'' anymore. they'd just think we're ''a homeless gay couple''. :)
PForx on
If you hang out with me it will just make you look even more like a homeless person...
gizter on
i know.

Usually the smell consists mostly of bacteria. So if it stinks really bad, I suggest cleaning. It's not just about the smell but also hygiene.
Hand washing works fine. Just remember to let it dry in a place with good ventilation or outside.
Avoid direct sunlight, it fades patches and fabric.
If you don't want to wash it, you can also remove the bacteria with the already mentioned Febreze.
Lazy finnish way of cleaning your vest: Take it into a sauna, drink a beer and raise the heat to +100, should kill most of the bacteria. Then leave it to dry outside. Avoid straight sunlight.
kereealazer on
The times I washed mine I just did it on handwash in the washing machine and hung it outside to dry. It's fine.

Either hand/bathtub wash or just throw it in a mesh laundry bag and machine wash it on light. Turn inside out (if Machine washing), and take all the pins/buttons off (all washing methods). Reason for turning vest/jacket inside out is so your stitching and canvas ends don't get real fucked up and or frayed when washing. I know from experience that they can...
Woven patches should be fine though, as should screen-printed (painted) patches, as long as the ink/paint has been heat-sealed/pressed extremely.

Hand wash is best, mainly spot washing if it's just a certain area, if smell is a problem just toss it in a bag and throw it in the freezer for a day or two.
Wolverina on
just wear it while showering

...but... there are so many memories with every single smell ;) you just can't wash them away!
