Banning bolt thrower items listed for trade/etc

doctordeath
Mon, 03/02/2014 - 12:58

I'm pretty much over this whole fucking bullshit of people asking $200->$500 for a bolt thrower tshirt/wank sock/etc

You know who this is directed at, you are pretty much ONLY here to make cash out of people who are too stupid to tell you to fuck off

So who agrees with me that we should have a no-trading-selling-bolt-thrower-items rule?

JesusLovesCakeFart's picture

Maybe not allowing it at all is a bit too harsh, but I definitely see where you're coming from. If you're trying to sell shit like that just to get a buck, then fuck off to ebay.

VoodooChild's picture

Might let people that can definitly be trusted make BT trades, for example if you have above x amount positive trades and are on here for x amount of years.

CarCass Death's picture

I agree with you DOCTOR DEATH & with you JESUSLOVESCAKEFART and Voodoochild.. you Doctor should ban or at least warn people selling any high priced shirt. It Iis also up to the collector desire and want of a shirt. Ive told you DD that ive paid lots fo shirts all through ebay. But those are shirts that are still with me.

Its what ever you make it Doctor Death I support you with what ever your decision and outcome is!

odder7's picture

Seems harsh, Doc--I have got a few BT things here--3 bought and 1 trade that were done up front and greed-free, and I traded a couple of BT boot patches for some good stuff, again, greed-free (One guy thought I was nuts at first because I wanted so little for my BT back shape), and I finally got my most wanted Warmaster shirt by trading with a guy for four small patches, believe it or not. NONE of this could have happened for me anywhere else on the internet (just ONE of the reasons this place is so great!). So maybe you should look at this more on an individual basis?

odder7's picture

Is it One person with the BT jumper scamming people? Ban the fucker. Is it a whole bunch of people all trying to scam people with the exact same piece of merch? Ban that particular piece of merch (if that is even possible). But man, I hear ya on all the work you are doing for free. This is your baby and you got the last say. Fucking people scamming people, what the fuck is wrong with people, eh?

Blüdrayne's picture

Just sayyin.
I'm that guy.
He gave me a decent trade and I literally let him select anything he wanted from my collection.
So I tried to give him a better deal and he didnt really care for the supposed ebay value etc.
Swell bloke.

almostwilt's picture

Silly rule. People already know not to spend hundreds of dollars on a shirt or anything on this site since it's not eBay. Yeah some people expect quite abit after seeing eBay prices myself included and many many others but people don't have to simply buy it. And if people are getting scammed they got 45 days to report it to paypal.

Don't ban the items from being sold/traded ban the people who are here joining just to sell and not be part of community.

i know, there are still ppl who try to get tons of money for Bolt Thrower stuff, but its not 'that' bad/evil here on TSS imo. We have a lot of ppl here who know 'real' prices etc. BT stuff trade on a 1:1 basis is ok, if its not totaly overpriced - ok too. But its hard to handle.
The idea isnt that bad, to make a Rule to stop this Money-makeing with BT stuff. But on the other hand - HERE ON TSS u can be sure, that not ever1 is trying to get ur last cent AND ppl with enough positiv feedback and are well known here - dont scam u.
....at end..im not sure how to handle it..that u dont have to spend to much hours on ur PMs - u seems to get everyday ;)

DevilzForce's picture

best way would be to have a report button for people that keep on selling high priced stuff and not contribute, let people report those people themselves and all you have to do is review and ban... easiest way to do this...

doomtilldeath's picture

+1

DevilzForce's picture

double..

Panthorder's picture

Almost every BT thing is sooo overprized! :( Even some of the bootleg woven patches! This is wrong! Every bootlegpatch should be no more than 6 euro IMO.

Chango's picture

Surprised Noone has lumped Immolation merch in the conversation.

DevilzForce's picture

no, they tend to saty on ebay with the other morons...

Chemical Burn's picture

I can understand being pissed off at people asking for silly money, but not everyone does that. I have a couple of Bolt Thrower shirts up for trade that I just want in different sizes. I think the report button is a good idea, just get rid of the few people who are taking the piss without letting them ruin it for everyone.

mad_submarine's picture

I also have traded bolt thrower stuff before on tss but for very reasonable money/trades. I think that if someone is a fool and has the money - let them pay, it is their own bucks, may they do whatever they want with it. I just believe that we all have our brain and can decide whether to be fooled or not. There are many decent traders and banning all bolt thrower merch seems a bit too much to me. /only my opinion

Stathis's picture

Are we in fucking kindergarten? Are there really ppl pm'ing DoctorDeath because they cant afford a shirt. Lemme guess, their average age is 15 years old right?
Guess what: If you don't FUCKING like the price someone is asking for THEIR shirts, then DON'T FUCKING buy it. NO ONE is forcing you to...

In my opinion add a disclaimer or something saying that each individual is responsible for any purchases/trades he makes in this site, and that you have no responsibility over it apart from banning unreliable traders (aka people who get paid but they dont send the shirt/patch etc). I dont think a ban of BT items is the answer.

If people wanna ask $500 for a shirt it is their right to do so, and if someone wants to spend $500 it is again his right. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything.

mad_submarine's picture

+1 exactly my point

CarCass Death's picture

Actually it was me that messaged Doctor Death about a former member of Shirtslayer for trying to sell the same BT Spearhead shirt he sold all ready. He removed comments from the shirts he listed saying it was all sold a while back. So I noticed it only because the I've had problems with such person buying other shirt that was wrongly listed as mint cause he sent me a trashed version of said shirt. Not only that this person also ripped off a member on shirtchasers who is a member there for very long time and well repected there is now on here. I was simpley bringing up the attention to Doctor Death that this person is a known scammer. I didnt want him ripping other honest members off or trying to again. It wasnt someone complaining about prices and he is the only one with high prices or trashed goods most of them. If anyway do not hold DD responsible he is only trying to protect what he has created...

Stathis's picture

That's a different thing than the original post then. There is a forum topic about unreliable sellers and scammers, you can post his name there along with what happened and i am sure DrDeath will take care of it.

CarCass Death's picture

No it was the correct way. I commemted on a different post from same guy who was banned and Doc asked me to post Iinfo amd message him info. I did. I didn't hear back for awhile. Saw the guy was doing it again. So I decided the best way was to message DD directly and bring it up to his attention. The reliable/unrelieable trader/seller list very rarely gets up dated. I sorry if you have a problem with this. But you werent ripped off by the guy as I was. I rather head to the man in charge then post a comment that may go ignored for a longer period of time...

i just recognized CarCass Death from meeting him at at a Facebook group where i was invited to- i hope you did not mean me - and if - why did you not tell me by yourself? we had a nice talk about non metal things - and i really enjoyed it - i was curious about this - i posted 2 bolt thrower shirts in another facebook group that i still got left from my bolt fest trip - i erased it cause i had some people commenting - stuff like - yeah i offer 200$ - bla,
bla - if i had ever thought about just making money i would not join tss and upload my pers. collection and add tss people to my facebook account -
i think here are already enough people with fake accounts and different e-bay seller accounts - i just got one ebay account - if somebody has questions - LET ME KNOW!!!! - you´ll get the answer.... i did not send you carcass links because i know the sellers- i thought you would like it - or need it for your collection - i would be happy if the stuff i want most (crowbar!!!) would be as easy avaible as carcass stuff - even i never saw a crowbar bootleg! you asked me for some stuff with really high money numbers - but i don´t have any carcass stuff - i have to check the other forum.....

NoneFuckingHeavier's picture

You are right dude! absolutely!

creedsk8's picture

I think people asking for cash offers on patches etc. and not setting a bottom line price is just as dick.

SatanMyMaster's picture

I'm not sure about banning them entirely. It sounds like a more reactive response, as opposed to a proactive one. I think that maybe under certain circumstances it should be cool to sell the occasional item on here, but by no means should people try and start a bidding war over an old, worn-out shirt. Maybe leave the auctions to eBay.

Ysidro's picture

I have a radical opinion towards this. Ban selling completely. Why not make this a pure trading forum.
Everyone who wants to sell his stuff can do this on Ebay and have all his greedy dreams be fulfilled.

NoneFuckingHeavier's picture

i guess you are right ysidro - business (if it is pers. stuff or not - when it comes to money - selling is business in some way) makes people angry - when they don´t get the stuff for 5 bucks that goes up to 30, 50 or 100 on ebay .... they start to throw shit - i never posted hundreds of links to my ebay stuff when i sell patches - cause i even don´t think about it.
since i am here i had the pleasure to meet a lot of nice dudes - that i really like and would love to meet for a few beers or some stuff i talked to CarCass Death about - and i don´t wanne ruin it with the many many mails i get with offers that are not from a real point of view.....
and before some shitlickers start commenting .- that i do trade to sell stuff - NO - i once owned a few patches that i traded .- and now want them again to put em in my frames with the lp and pic,. lp. - i got these frames hanging in my living room - i am not doing this to get people to buy my stuff.....

Ysidro's picture

It does not only make people angry. I´ve also met many nice people in here. But some were nice in the beginning and then getting clever about this patch business started to be calculous and greedy and asking for many patches to trade for one. Especially the last few month most traders approched me with this "getting the most out of it" attitude instead of doing a fair trade. I´m pretty annoyed by this development, and of course Ebay is to blame, or to be correct, everyone wo pushed to price forward by bidding just a little bid more. From 2006 when the patch was 5€ to now where it is 150€. I think a big part in this plays TSS - because since about 2011 all the new kids are just copying other peoples wishlists, creating a huge hype for certain patches. Often this hype has nothing to do with the actual rarity of a patch. I´m really tired of this ridiculous madness.

Ysidro's picture

think about it. have a beer. think deeper...
there will be no more spammers
there will be less scammers
you will get rid of the moneymakers
your inbox will write you a letter of gratitude

Ysidro's picture

I will never sell MY PRECIOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS..........

gizter's picture

while i too don't like all the people who ask way to much money. this kind of rule would also get in the way of your patch project. and those of lots of others on this site that are making great patches.

VoiceOfTheSoul's picture

I was being sarcastic, portraying DoctorDeath as King Theoden and Ysidro as Wormtongue :P

gizter's picture

ahh sorry. i might have understood that if i knew anyting about whatever that pic was from.
