Listen to "Somewhere Far Beyond" by Blind Guardian. Flawless album from tip to taint.

Some heavy/thrash I've been spinning lately:
Sacrilege-Behind the Realm of Madness
Bulldozer-IX
Toxik-World Circus
Sextrash-Sexual Carnage
Tokyo Blade-Night of the Blade
Kat-666
Get whatever backpatch you fucking want, it doesn't matter as much as you think.

Old, new? Hard to know which direction folks enjoy and what you havent heard. Im old as hell so maybe not your cup of tea.
Some arent even considered metal but I like 'proto-punk' and 'proto-metal' too
Some favs of mine that some folks might have missed:
Death SS - Do What Thou Wilt (1997) ...an acquired taste but some really great tracks try Baron Samedi
Angelwitch's first album (1980) ...easy to forget just how early they were with this sound
MC5's Kick out the Jams (1969) ...Proto everything heavy. Where did these guys go?
Cirith Ungol - King of the Dead (1984) ...I wore my vinyl out twice
Porcupine Tree's In Absentia (2002) ...the album they wrote with Mikael from Opeth
Hawkwind - Doremi Fasol Latido (1972) ...Lemmy's band before Motorhead
The Haunted - Made Me Do It (2000) ...surely you know this one
Witchery's new LP - Nightside (2022) ...new singer but still really good
Accept - Restless & Wild (1983) ...this was on 11 before there was Slayer
Angry Samoans - Back from Samoa (1982) ...raw relentless thrash punk. We skated pools to this all the time

A lot of good recs already but I can throw a few more up myself. Since you didn't specify any particular genre this will be a bit all over the place.
Zions Abyss - TALES (1991) Top-Tier USPM and I do mean it. It is as good as it gets.
Brutality - Screams of Anguish (1993) Excellent Floridian DM. Wipes most of the competition off the block.
Cloven Hoof - Dominator (1988) 1/2 Maiden, 1/2 USPM & 2/2 pure awesomeness
Fear of God - Within the Veil (1991) no comment, just listen to this
Necrodeath - Into the Macabre (1987) Bathory + Kreator = one of the best Black/Thrash records ever put out.
almost forgot these guys
dISEMBOWLMENT - Transcendence into the Peripheral (1993) Epic Doom/Death/Grindcore (yes they made it a thing)

I recommend moon of foul magics by Autonoesis (a hidden gem)

Since you said you wanna expand your music horizons. I'll give you some that are well outside the spectrum of your listed profile bands.
Atlantean Kodex -- The White Goddess.
(you liked Blind Guardian, this is downstream and a giga-epic galaxy of an album spanning the entire history of Western Civilization yet memorable and down-to-earth at same time. Incredible clean vocals and lyric wisdom.)
The Chasm -- Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm.
(Underrated melodeath gem of a band churning out sick instrumental slabs that will haunt you hard. I'm not joking. This album is scary schizophrenic bliss.)
High Command -- The Secartha Demos.
(Avoid the polished full-lengths, check this first demo. Tasty thrashy heavy riffage that's so much fun and feral and raw, makes you forget you're "listening" because you're too busy vibing in primitive beast mode, incredible for a young recent band to capture such energy. Sadly missing on studio albums, FIND THIS DEMO \m/ )
Moonsorrow -- Voimasta Ja Kunniasta.
(Sprawling epic anthems of primordial might and adventure. Meaty and thicc like a heavy steak. Long juicy cuts flame-grilled to savor slowly. Incredible replay value as it keeps getting better every time. This was *original* viking metal before all the buzz. Obscure and hypnotic and 100% spirit. Play it from start to finish. More protein than a moose.)

Only True Believers by Armagedda

My most recent vinyl purchase was Tank-Power of the Hunter. Great classic N.W.O.B.H.M and maybe one of their lesser loved albums.
Speaking of things that don't get enough love, Inoculation-Celestial Putridity is by far my favorite death metal album from the 2020s and I feel like not enough people know about it.
