How to place a backpatch on an oversized denim jacket?

Hi! I'm starting to work on my battle jacket and I've run into a problem: I'm 155 cm tall, size XS, and my denim jacket is from a second-hand store and has a bigger shoulder size than me, Because of this, my back is wavy, and when I try to pin the backpatch, it sticks out really badly :( What's the best way to deal with this and what's the best way to place the backpatch? Also, can I mix genres on a battle jacket? I'm mostly Russian punk, but I also want a KMFDM backpatch. Will people laugh at me?
