Recently Kyrck Productions and Armour released what is (in my opinion) the first proper vinyl pressing of Arcturus’ black metal masterpiece “Aspera Hiems Symfonia.”
It had been released as a remixed and remastered 2LP compilation album in 2002, which also contained “Constellation” and “My Angel.” This release never felt or looked right to me. It kind of felt like a cop-out since the only vinyl pressing of the original album was on a picture disc.
But here we have it with the original mastering/cover and THEN SOME! FINALLY!
Limited to 300 units each color, Black, Green/Black and Blue/White. This is the Green/Black version.
It has also been released as a limited to 100 leatherbound edition, with silverprint and different artwork - which I have also bought :D
Both editions come with the picture booklet and poster that you see here.
I’m super stoked about this one. In my opinion this contains Garm’s BEST vocal performance of any of his albums. Fuck YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeAH!
I’d like to thank Arcturus for accepting this glorious release with this label!!!

Not a fan of the band, but man is that a cool colored vinyl!
LaUlvenDrepe on
Haha, thanks.
I know what you mean, when I played it I was pretty much mesmerized just watching it spin.
Metallic_Storm on
Hahah I can imagine it's the same with splatter vinyls...
LaUlvenDrepe on
Hahaha, the record could be a bunch of fart sounds and as long as it's a splatter vinyl that's it! It tricks you into thinking it's awesome! Haha.
No no, but seriously this is an incredible album.
LaUlvenDrepe on
Yep! In the words of the little girl from the movie Poltergeist "they're heeeeeeeeeeeeere."
Haha. This is probably my second favorite of their albums, but that doesn't say much because it's freaking Arcturus! One of the best bands in the world if you ask me.
Liberator on
What a beauty!I just received an Original Adipocere First Press of Bethlehem's Dark Metal. Just gave it a listen.
Must have been nostalgic listening to this.

I also like what Kyrck Pro. do. They have re-released some good classics in very cool special editions.
This was my first time buying from them. The only thing I didn't like from them is that yes, this was a pre-order, but they didn't even bother telling people in general (not even through their website) that they started shipping. I found out they started going out through a tshirtslayer friend of mine who ordered some Arcturus records from them as well. They didn't tell him either, he had to email them and ask.
LaUlvenDrepe on
I completely understand that, but I wasn't asking for much.
I know it's practically impossible for a one man label to email everybody that it's shipped. But what I am saying is, at least put it on your website, just in general.

I'm glad this got re-released! I should have gotten the leather editions like you did. the artwork is a bit too grainy on the normal version... I just got mine in the mail. Im thinking of printing my own vinyl jacket with a clearer aspera heims print.

very nice items, Kyrck productions seems to make great collectable editions

Beautiful, i love these multi-coloured vinyls!!!

Winter time is coming:D Listening to this will be epic:)
LaUlvenDrepe on
Fuck yeah man, Harsh Winter Symphony!
Although where I live it might as well be called Less-than-mild Winter Symphony... winter here is very weak.
ConsideredDead11 on
Same:/ I'm from gay ass SoCal, not very fun here:/
LaUlvenDrepe on
Well, it should be colder than here... South Florida... boooooooooo!
I hate this place, haha.
ConsideredDead11 on
Damn dude...Are you surrounded with wannabe thrasher types? I have a lot in my area...
LaUlvenDrepe on
Thrasher types? I wish...
Almost nobody here listens to metal. The people that do, listen to either crap like Lamb of God, or the more popular bands like Megadeth, Anthrax, and Metallica. It's hard to find someone who has dug deeper than that.
But yeah, the metal population here in general is almost non-existent. It's basically 98% of the people here listen to reggaeton, rap, and utter shit like that.
ConsideredDead11 on
SAMEEEEEEEEEE:/ And "wannabe" thrasher types.. like the ones that
"keep it 80's" and wear flip hats, etc:P
LaUlvenDrepe on
It's a sad sad world we live in :D
Ohh well. I personally don't really care how people dress as long as they listen to good music, but yeah it sounds like it might be a trend thing if you have that many of them.
ConsideredDead11 on
I'm trying to make friends with other people as long as they can hook me up with weed:P haha
LaUlvenDrepe on
Relax man, you can like whatever you want. If you like it you like it, period. No need to explain yourself to anyone.
LaUlvenDrepe on
Naaaaah, no problem at all dude.
I don't really use the word "poser" too much. But basically what I feel like the definition of a poser is, is someone who tries to be something or someone they are not, for whatever reason, it doesn't matter. But if you genuinely like it, and aren't doing it to fit in or be cooler or different or whatever stupid reason like that, then to me it's fine.
R.J. on
Where in socal do you live? The only place I see any thrashers are at shows.
ConsideredDead11 on
I live in the L.A. area... i've been to 2 shows and all suck. Moshing is over rated now:./
R.J. on
Me too man. No thrashers in my area, which is Santa Clarita/San Fernando. Or maybe I'm not looking in the right places...
I go to a good amount of shows, but I definitely prefer the smaller ones. I can tolerate moshing until people start acting like dicks, which usually always happens due to the huge amounts of non-metalheads that tend to show up just to act like morons in the pit. Enslaved/Alcest last year was a great show. No moshing!
ConsideredDead11 on
Yep, and I love relaxing to Alcest, specially in the bathtub:D
VoiceOfTheSoul on
I've seen this logo so much now I feel like I have to check this band out... haha
LaUlvenDrepe on
Dude do it! haha.
I think that even if you end up not liking them you will most likely realize that they are very talented. Their first album (the album in the pictures) is a black metal legend!
The other albums are avant-garde metal. Not for everyone, mind you... but to me just as good. In fact, their second album "La Masquerade Infernale" is my personal favorite. But this being one of my favorite bands, I love all of their albums very very much. They all sound perfect to me, and I don't even like avant-garde metal in general.
VoiceOfTheSoul on
First listen I didn't much care for it, but the more I listen the more I like it. Of course I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm currently on a binge of raw/dirty sounding BM and this is quite the opposite haha.
LaUlvenDrepe on
Haha, yeah... this is definitely a more "sophisticated" listen. More majestic than anything else.
If you're in that kind of mood go for something like One Tail, One Head or Torture Chain instead. Really good fucking bands, and really raw/dirty bad-ass sounding!
blackstar1965 on
I really admire your passion for this band. Do you have pics of the leather-bound set??
LaUlvenDrepe on
Many many thanks man!
Many bands have affected my life, but only two have never let me down (despite each band releasing ONE shitty album). Those bands are Darkthrone and Arcturus.
But yes, the latter is just such a unique band that it's almost like an obsession. I love the strange atmosphere they have, the way that the sound has changed for EVERY album but still remains just as good, and the way that they take their music seriously but not to the point where they don't joke around.
Anyway, yeah I took pictures and posted the leatherbound edition of this album here on TSS the same day as this, because I bought them together. The pictures aren't very good though, that edition has bright silver artwork, and my camera doesn't like that, haha.
LaUlvenDrepe on
Ohhh and in case you are wondering, the shitty albums (in my opinion) they have each released is Plaguewielder for Darkthrone (even though I didn't like that Goatlord comp either, but yeah since it's not a regular album I don't want to count it, haha) and that really strange comp album from Arcturus called Disguised Masters.
Except for the song Deception Genesis of course. That song is epic.
hungbyintestines on
I need to get of my ass and post my leatherbound editions. Ahhhh, got em like, what, 3 months ago... I'll do that as soon as I get home. 5 flames by the way...of course!
LaUlvenDrepe on
Hey man good to hear from you dude!
Yeah I was wondering why you hadn't posted those yet.
Hárbarðr on
And here are some more flames for this magnificent album, in an equally great edition.
I can't be happier i'll see them live next year :)
LaUlvenDrepe on
Holy crap dude, really?!
That's awesome man! You lucky lucky son-of-a-bitch, hahaha. Just kidding, but yeah that sounds absolutely fantastic.
Hárbarðr on
Yeah, we got really lucky the festival organizers managed to sign them! (they're playing on a festival here in Santiago, i really doubt a normal gig would have worked out)
I hope they play a couple songs from this one :)

If you're asking me, it's not the colour that makes it great, but one of the best black metal album ever! Something like this comes out once in a lifetime! Congrats for owning it! And, also, killer Arcturus shirts!
LaUlvenDrepe on
Many thanks for your comment! You're 100% correct, the best part about this release is the music. However, it doesn't hurt that it's also very beautiful to look at, haha.
I'm a huge Arcturus fan, so I appreciate your comment. I try to collect everything I like from them.

You welcome! If you'll ever find an Arcturus longsleeve that you already got, please, think of me. In my country it is so hard to find any cool metal stuff. I'll pay up to 150$ for an Arcturus size M/L longsleeve! Kind regards, my friend!
LaUlvenDrepe on
I actually had one for sale not too long ago, but it's gone now. I had it double so I decided to sell the used one (the one I have now is in mint condition!!). It was a "La Masquerade Infernale" LS from 1997, but it was XL.
VoiceOfTheSoul on
I need to find a copy of this, thanks for the unintentional persuasion to check this out! haha
