anyone have some creative ideas that don't cost too much for promoting tshirtslayer to the right crowds?
I've talked to 6 or 7 pretty big metal magazines about doing some kind of cross-promo but none are interested (weird huh? the guys who run the magazines arent interested in promoting their magazine here, unless i part with $1000's of dollars for a half page ad)
however, big creds to MetalHammer Greece for the interview!
I've also tried contacting all the major heavy metal labels (nuclear blast, etc etc etc), and none of them are interested in doing some kind of cross promotion (which also makes me think record labels arent interested in promoting their bands on the internet, other than some shitty youtube's)
got any ideas? theres only so many stickers we can put up around the world :)

"Right crowd" are the key words. Try with some decently underground record labels. The majority of them are in it for the love of music and not the money. They could put Tshirtslayer business cards/patches/stickers or whatever in with people's orders, just as an idea. I would be highly surprised if you didn't have luck with them somehow.

I would suggest Hells HeadBangers Records, and Evil Skull Records as they've included more free shit like stickers, cards, flyers etc. than any other distro's I've shopped from.

Ibex Moon Records? Abyss Records? I know the owner of Abyss, I can talk to him for you.

I second the HellsHeadbangers suggestion.Pretty sure they'd be willing to do something.

exactly +1, maybe even some underground web zines...I know there's a few out there that might be willing to do advertising.

Maybe the right bands would include TSS stickers in with their merch that is sold to fans. TSS posters at venues? Links off of band/festival sites?

I know there's got to be a few people with bands on tshirtslayer (myself included) that would be more than willing to include tshirtslayer stickers with cds or whatever

I'd say word of mouth is a good way to go, and its free! So just keep making the site better DR. Death, and I'm sure people will keep finding it and joining! I know I have showed the site to alot of people, and they have done the same! Of course stickers are good too, But I never got any in the mail after giving you my address! :P
another idea, post some pics or links to TSS on other metal forums! that is free too and you might get alot of hits!
madbutcher
try official and mostly unofficial fan clubs of bands

Advertising on sites like Abyss that sell a lot of patches would make sense.

http://www.blastbeatnetwork.com advertizes on a lot of metal websites. A lot of companies/brands do a lot of viral advertizing now-a-days.

I would try Heavy Artillery Records, they're pretty underground and they're all about the old-school metal. They would probably be willing to help promote Tshirtslayer
how about tshirt slayer stencils. free to make. cheaper than stickers.
or how about we pay a bum to have the website logo tattooed on his body, eh?
megadeth1818 on
all the kick ass bands on here should get together to make a t shirt slayer compilation CD like metal massacre or somethin

Did you try Earache? They seem like they'd be fairly game!
how about make a banner people can put in forum signatures elsewhere?
FarFarNorth on
Already been said, but worth saying again. HellsHeadbangers.com and OfficialAbyssRecords.com are two distros that are simultaneously very underground-motivated and stock stuff from a great variety of metal genres. Both have great selection of patches, and often include free promo flyers/notes with all orders. Totally worth approaching.

Banners/flags of tshirtslayer to festivals.
Bayernpirat
but when I hang up a selfmade flag beside my tent? it´s not forbidden, it would be like a club sign or something. but for first I need your ok to make a banner ;)
Rover133 on
I like this. I would fly a TSS flag.

i got a lot of ideas and connections wich where maybe open to get something rolling - give me a week or two and i will work out something - got a lot to do in the moment!!!

HellsHeadBangers?
I know they have magazines.
Maybe they could put TSS in an article of some sort?
Rover133 on
TSS Business Cards? I always get stopped at shows because of the kutte and everyone wants to know how to start one - simple answer would be to hand them one with the web site so they actually have it. Granted that would be more for us fans and not companies.
