After tracking down a lot of patches, finally got to hand sewing this. Made a few alterations to the denim and tried my best for clean layout.
Lots of favorites; a mix of vintage, new releases and Fan/ Boots.

All and all pretty happy and my fingers are like chopped liver.

Front updated with some vintage pins and a few replacements

I always ask my girlfriend for help with the lay-out. She has an eye for it. I guess I'm not that artistic 😜
You really did an amazing job. I love the lay out, and you manage to puzzle it together as such that you didn't have to overlap the patches. One of the best vests I've seen here on TSS! 🤘😫🤘

So you work with a thimble? I do it without, making the process even more painful 🤪 I stab myself so many times 😅

Dude the thimble Was a little leather cover with what I guess is called a coin. At some point it stressed and stretched so only worked half the time. For more dense area of denim I had to use pliers get the needle through.. must have broken a dozen needles.

The puzzle part was all in my head but when it came down to sewing I had to make it up as I went along and tried to maintain some sort of balance between not only the size of the patch but how it interact with others around by color and imagery subject matter. Most likely I made more work for myself, certainly not the best but certainly happy it’s over 😆!

I probably get myself a thimble too and pliers would be handy as well. I'm always sitting here at my table sweating, swearing 🤬 and bleeding sewing through the dense areas.

I can imagine your design was guided a bit by the sewing process. Beginning a vest is always an enthusiastic start but with this patch density I can imagine the time that went into it is immense. You can be a proud man now that it's over! 🤘😄🤘

Man the extra flap of denim under the armpit bothered me, and makes the overall fit awkward since the sleeves are gone; taking that extra out and making the opening larger solves that issue but it was a pain. Not the most professional job but good enough for government work as they say.

Thanks man! I’ve never seen the Bölzer patch as well until it popped up. I’m pretty sure it’s bootleg/ fan patch but was surprised that there wasn’t one already here on TSS when I bought it.

Wow. This has to one of the greatest collections of Death Metal patches ever seen on one jacket.

Nice layout too, I like minimal overlap when the patches are this good!

Dude thanks! It was super hard to maintain course without trying overlap too much. Basically tried set rules for myself as to what can overlay and what can’t. Also really didn’t feel confident in overlapping so stuck to a strict regiment of tiling. There are so many stunning vests on here that overlap and maintain an incredible rhythm.
