I love them both. For me they are find of too different to pick on over the other, it really depends on the mood I am in as to what I will pick to listen to.
I think CC would have my favourite Death metal album (the bleeding) but Obituary overall have a more deep discography IMO

Cannibal Corpse easily. A lot of their albums are absolutely amazing and even the ones that aren't to that standard are still very solid albums. Obituary on the other hand has had 2 good albums and the rest of their discography is something I can never get behind as it's so repetitive. Also Redneck Stomp I think might be my least favorite song that ever came out of the death metal scene lol.
obituary. cause of death is the only reason why effigy of the forgotten is not necessarily the best roadrunner death metal album of all time (even without a dan seagrave cover). I found butchered at birth and eaten back to life mostly boring in comparison, bit like background or elevator music. the bleeding is pretty cool, but less my taste than the first three obituary albums and I also touched john tardy's shoulder as a 14-year-old, which is hard to beat.

Both are great and have many classics in the death metal, Dying of everything is in my opinion better then chaos horrific but i like the classic albums of cannibal corpse more then Obituary, i would say Cannibal Corpse is better but both are 10/10. Stay Trve🤘
