Mercyful Fate Six Months with Sadistik Slayer

Alright everyone, third go-around on the insistence of the Doctor, and on that note, welcome to the far more sensible and severely condensed revision of my previous uploads! So here we go one last time...

In my life the reading of metallic materials never ends, but I can't imagine any other Metal zine or book being better than the epic and unparalleled tome of Pure Fukking Babbageddon I committed myself to reading from this past July up until the end of January. This is actually a replacement copy I purchased from the book's publisher Bazillion Points recently as the original copy I bought from Hell's Headbangers back in September of 2017 became increasingly ragged over time due not to shelf wear, but being exposed to the elements and just carrying it around everywhere reading it on public transportation traveling to and from work, shows & fests, etc. Anyway, enough about myself, this book right here I feel is required reading for metalheads. This is a combination of Metalion's memoirs and of course the 25+ year history of his publication, namely the iconic Norwegian zine Slayer which, contrary to popular belief was not named after the band. I loved reading this entire collection from cover to cover like a true zine maniac and to anyone looking at this right now, I would encourage you to do the same. You'll immerse yourself in the way things used to be, whether it be the old cut 'n paste approach to zinecraft, tape trading or letter writing. You'll learn about his growth with Heavy, Thrash, Speed, Death & Metal, the old Scandinavian Black & Death scenes, all of his close friendships throughout the decades including those with Euronymous, Angel Ripper, Dead & Rok among countless others, Mayhem getting their earliest ever coverage in Slayer in the mid-80s, the untouchable Arne Babb, his coverage of countless artists in their formative and golden years, bits of trivia like Nella, the creator of Mayhem's logo also creating the second iteration of Slayer zine's logo, Rok of Sadistik Exekution creating a lot of markedly Hellhammer inspired artwork as well as the zine's most famous and recognizable logo, the Slayer zine core bands, his unrestrained opinion articles, articles about deeply disturbed people doing unspeakable things to other human beings, murders, the church burnings, A certain intelligent Black Metaller contributing articles and interviews with others while incarcerated, Metalion's unforgettable trip to Australia, his wild Wacken years, his rebirth as a professional photographer, his reversion to Thrash Metal and Heavy Metal later on in the zine's history, how the underground Metal industry operates (or used to) and memorials to those now gone forever. I feel like I've previewed maybe a little too much information but that's how much I love and recommend this unbelievable reading experience. You'll never spell fuck the conventional way ever again, hahaha...
