Making my first battle jacket. Just wondering on average how many "regular" size plus one back patch can fit on one jacket so I don't end up wasting money and patches
Just depends on how you want to do it. Can have 10 or like 100 if you wear large clothing...
I counted, I currently have 44 small patches in my collection and 3 BP's that are in the running to go on my vest, + a fair amount of stuff in the mail
Well First ita a Question for the Jacket size and your creativity. But only a XXL Jacket isnt of course a shitload of patches, im a Bit Tall and wearing size S-M but getting almost 85 on it

Well you're american, so i'd say about 20-ish is a good estimate.
If you were german, 200 is a safer bet.
depends if your spacing them out, having them close together, or overlaping. i think i have 60 something patches on my vest, but ive had my vest for nearly 5 years now and have accumulated the patches over that time.
size of your jacket, if you want or not to oversew (a bit or more) the patches, Patches are logos, stripes or just normal ones, back patch and maybe back shape, final question: your personal taste = layout. Have a look around here, there are lots of different vests. ....and a vest is never finished.
The main problem could be that you couldn't get your hands on all patches, which you like.
So I am thinking of getting a large mens jacket with the sleeves still on and I have 54 patches plus 1 back patch awaiting order, can I cut off the sleeves and still get all the patches on?
i'm an XXL and i'm working on a jacket as we speak wich i'm gonna fill up completely, i'm up to 127 patches with layout (not sewn on yet)... it all depends on what you want to do

As many as you can fit. It depends on what layout you want really.
I've seen vests on here with probably well over 100 and some with just like 8.

I've got no space left on mine - haha. Depends on the size of the vest itself. An XL has more space that medium.
I think the best answer would be for OP to find a jacket that's about as crowded as he would like his to be, and ask the owner. make sense?

I'd imagine you'd have no problem fitting them all on, unless you space them out a lot.

All depends on spacing and size of patches.
