I loved everything about it yesterday. It was amazing. I loved to see bands like Metallica and Guns N' Roses, that haven't played a support gig slot in ages, take on the role of support acts to a band they respect so much. For once not the main headliner to the biggest festivals meant to steal the show. They were just Sabbath fans playing for their idol. The Morello All Star bands were a lot of fun. To see multiple artists from very different bands I love play together for once in some kind of supergroup was amazingly fun for me. Cherry on the pie for me to see Ronnie Wood form the Rolling Stones (the band where listening to music started for me, coming form a house with a Stones maniac father) share a stage on the same day with many of my own favourite artists was amazing.
yeah, incredible to see Steven Tyler perform walk this way with the ex-guitarist of RATM (and a guy in an excellent Aphex Twin shirt in the front row :))
does anyone yet know the name of the band that sharon kicked off the bill (and threatened to reveal the name of after the show) because they demanded to be paid?
Saw the full sets for Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Slayer, Metallica, and a few others on youtube. All were great performances and each band did a cover or 2 that were all great. I do sadly think videos of any full set is being taken down.
I managed to get a couple of tickets and went to the gig on Saturday - it was AMAZING. The livestream audio totally failed to capture the atmosphere and crowd noise which was pretty fucking thunderous during Ozzy and Sabbath's sets. Saw many a grown man in tears after Ozzy sang 'Mama I'm Coming Home'!
