Cutting the colar of your jacket

If I cut of the colar of my jacket will it get all wide and stretched after a view years? My mom keeps telling me the jacket will get pretty fucked up but i'm considering to cut it off (it covers some patches :P)

I know a guy, who´s collecting colars on festivals and so on to make a battle jacket, lol

don't do that, it's just ugly with no collar. But if you do it, you can sew the jacket so it won't get ugly and damaged

Personally I wouldn't do it, as there is room for strip patches and pins.

If you use a leather jacket, it looks better without a collar - my opinion.
I cut the collar of my battle jacket too.

I don´t think, that i will look fucked up. It´s your jacket, not your mom´s. ;-)

just do what I did: fold it and sow it shut. This way you will keep the collar and it will not cover your patches. remember that when once the collar is cut of, there's no getting it back on. just sow it tight and then you can always cut it off later, if you like it more that way

Comments like this one is exactly why I read the Forum section. I've debated the collar issue and this is the perfect solution. Thanks.

Ive left mine on but im making a new one that will go over my leather jacket and on that one ill cut the collar off. My current one is a more fitted vest and wont go over my leather.

I have one thats cut, and one thats not... Its just preference

My collar is cut off as well as the pieces where the buttons and button holes usually are.
I stitched the edges with a sewing machine so that there'll be no fringes (worked out well for 1.5 years and counting.).

i did cut mine off about 4 years ago
i dont have anny problems with it

Bayernpirat's picture

I`m using a biker vest, don`t have this problem

I wonder how many bikers' mothers have a strong influence over their vests.

My mom has nothing to say about my jacket, i just asked her 'will it get fucked up?'. she said it probably will. But I decided to just get it off, we'll see how it turn out

Well mothers would generally be the ones with the knowledge so it'd almost be foolish not to at least consider their advice.

I cut the collar off mine, cuz it covered some patches. but I used a light hoodie as a liner for it, and that looks pretty cool, and its warm:)

Thank you all! I cutted it off a week ago :D

Mental-Vortex's picture

I cutted my collar off too and till now I don't have any problems with that.

I don´t cut the colar of my new Denim Kutte because it´s more free space to sew on patches
