Update again! With another new backpatch (but this time I'll keep it for a longer time)! Unfortunately I could not name very band in the band-tags (not again), so here the rest: Limp Bizkit, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Dimmu Borgir, Death, Behemoth, Suffocation
Now the lady and her dragon is surrounded by a big army of Death Metal
Thank you very much! Like the Moonsorrow-patches for example? (I mean I bought them from you.) These were like a gold-mine for me and the jacket because Moonsorrow is one of my favorite bands ;D
Yup the patch looks as if it was made to be shaped :D I love to combine patch-shapes with others, most of all if the shaped ones fit and harmonize with other patches like for example in this case Kivenkantaja with Wintersun and Nytt Land.
Well it went into the direction I want to make it, there is no concept how I want to put patches on it - just fill out the gaps with shaped patches I made. There is no specific process I follow. I just put on the jacket patches of bands I like to hear.
But there are some rules I've set for myself:
- filling gaps with shaped patches as mentioned (it becomes difficult from time to time depending on patch and form of gap)
- decorating patches so that motives (eye-catcher) are still visible
- and I make sure bandnames/-logos are complete covered or not.
No problem, bro ;)
Otherwise you can shape cheap woven patches and add them to your jacket to fill gaps. I did it a few times as you can see on my jacket and gives the possibilities to create some eastereggs. But keep in mind if you do like I do, removing patches can be a pain in the ass if there are too many patches on it!
Small soldering iron which cost 7 € at the time I bought it. When you shape the patch the "wounds" of the patch get sealed at the same time and there is no need of a lighter to seal.

How do you get it to look like that layout wise? Is there a specific process that you have?

Thanks man! I’ve had the problem of mine being too square lol. I have some shaped patches coming in so hopefully that fixes things a bit

How do you go about cutting the cheap patches? Just scissors or do you use something else?
