Not to start a genre war, but out of curiosity, do you consider Shadows Fall to be thrash metal?
NYYMETALLICA on
Yes and no, I say yes because their guitar playing is very melodic just like Testament. That's what got me into them. Listen to The War Withen album and you can hear that Testament sound in it. The vocals are this generations sound. So I guess you just take the good with the bad.

I agree. I have a bunch of Shadows Fall. 'Threads of Life' definitely sees the band headed into a more thrash metal direction, though the vocals are still that core yelling. Their earlier albums had bits of hardcore and death metal. I know it's not popular on this site, but I like them despite their core tendencies.

Exodus, Overkill, and Nuclear Assault are all favorites of mine.
Shadows Fall isn't bad. My brother loves them and so I hear quite a bit; their music is somewhat thrashy. The vocals are my only problem. Killswitch I can't really get into.
I don't personally listen to Lamb of God, but they're okay. I actually really enjoy that Overkill song Skull and Bones.
Oh and Speak English or Die is great! I still need to get a copy of that one along with USA for MOD.
