Maiden returned to Sweden at the very end of the Killers Tour to play some rescheduled gigs from the first leg, when Paul had damaged his voice.
This shirt came from Julius - the legendary Swedish promoter in Lund. It was sent to him in the days following the gig there in September, as a thankyou for his efforts from EMI Sweden. The shirt also carries the logo of Screen Bolaget.
From their website:
'Screenbolaget is today one of Sweden's leading suppliers of profile advertising and action marketing products. The company was established in the late 70's with screen printing of T-shirts as the main business.'
Julius kept the shirt in the bag it came in. He also sent me the original gig contract and a copy of a letter from Maiden describing the rescheduling..
Update Nov 2022: Thanks to German for finding this vintage mag pic showing Steve wearing one in Italy, late 1981. Fucking awesome \m/
Mate, it's far beyond authoritative collecting. It's backing up museum-quality pieces with premium primary sources. It's tshirtology, that's what it is.
Cool, man! Was it up on a Swedish website? Congrats to the shirt! Really nice story with the contract and letter and everything. The small veneu they played in Stockholm 81 is still there. GΓΆta lejon :) Kinda crazy to think they once played there.

Another amazing piece of history ! And the shirt is beautiful ! Weird that Paul didn't sign the letter.

I reckon he was separate from the others - maybe home resting/seeking medical attention.
