Moral dilemma

Alright, so there was something I was wondering about. I stumbled upon this great site that has a lot of patches that I would want to buy (Toxik, Diamond Head, Morbid Saint, Tank, etc..., in other words some of the coolest patches I have ever seen) and they seem to have high quality products and decent prices. The only downside is are plainly racist. They're called "metal negro" and they sell a swastika patch, and I completely loathe and despise racism in every way. Can any of you who know about this site tell me more about it, and more importantly answer my question: Would I be a terrible human being for ordering from them, knowing that they probably have views that I see as immoral?

ShieldbitersValhalla's picture

Lots of people here have ordered from Metal Negro I'm sure. I don't think they are a racist site. If I were you, I would get the stuff I want from that place.

Also, in my opinion, "negro" is not an offensive word, even in a modern English context.

ErichZann's picture

If you call someone a negro, then it's a different story.

ShieldbitersValhalla's picture

I suppose you are right. Now that I thoroughly think about it, it probably must feel the same way a white person does being called a cracker.

Maddolis's picture

But cracker was created as a racist term (to the best of my knowledge, although I find the term hilarious), whereas Negro started out as the correct term, similar to Caucasian or Asian. I'm assuming Negroes started taking it offensively because it rhymes with nigger?
Or perhaps because racist white people would start using the term as such through ignorance.

Blüdrayne's picture

Negro was originally the politically correct term, and nigger was used much like a dimunitive. in a way to imply familiarity, or a slang version. It was originally no more malicious. nigger and negro are generally considered more offensive now because it is associated with the slave era. much like the term coloured.

Maddolis's picture

Yeah. People need to quit whining about everything I reckon.

mayhempunk666's picture

when i hear someone describe me as negro(which happened once my freshmen year) my only reaction was to ask the person if he was 90 years old. Its just an antiquated word IMO that has just fallen out of vernacular over generations.

If it was really racist and offensive im pretty sure the United Negro College Fund would have changed its name by now

ShieldbitersValhalla's picture

Exactly, the title "United Negro College Fund" does come to mind when considering the context of the use of negro.

hungbyintestines's picture

It's not like the money you send them is going into Adolf Hitler's bank account. If you are just ordering a patch I see no problem, but that's just me. Ultimately, it is up to you. Not much help here, sorry.

Plague's picture

LOL... The name, I think, is spanish for BLACK METAL. That's what I thought at least when I ordered from them. Took a little while to get my order (about 5 weeks) but it came. One thing though, two of the patches kinda suck... they are plastic coated and really cheap looking, so be forewarned. I'm gonna use them, but I myself prob won't order from there unless there's really something I want.

whiteravenmetal's picture

Negro = Black

JUANTHRASH's picture

verdad

Terroristic-Hammerings's picture

They are not racist. "Negro" just means black in spanish, and they are based from ecuador (which speaks spanish) .

TBH you just sound like a big baby....

The website isn't racist to my knowledge, it's run from a Latin American country and 'Negro' is a word in Espanol that was established long before it ever got used as slang in English....Next time, stop, assess and do your research a bit better. Morality hardly has a place in online buying because somewhere along the lines, something or someone is going to present a view that may be differing or controversial to you and you will have to either face it, or choose a different website.
*I found the patch you were describing*- it's one patch..out of a website of hundreds of non NSDAP related material and I'm not even sure how you stumbled upon it, because the only way I managed to find it, was by keyword search.

If you want the other patches you mentioned, get them, if not, choose another site.
Got an issue?... find a tissue and move on.

Blüdrayne's picture

yeah, metal negro is not reflective of any racism. metal negro just means black metal. don't worry about that.

meaningless's picture

but hey..at least..he thinks about what he is doing, its fine by me :)

iambadcompany's picture

Moral Dilemma?? hmmmm ok?

Maddolis's picture

Just buy the patches.

PowerThrashingDeath's picture

Just buy 'em, I'm not going to ask every guy at a merch stand what his views or believes are.

ImproperBurial's picture

To be honest it was the swastika patch they carried more than the name that made me think they were racist. But thanks for all your input

ImproperBurial's picture

And you guys are right, I wasn't aware that the site was run out of a Spanish-speaking country, for some reason I thought it was in the US. I feel kinda stupid now haha

Phosphorous_Redeemer's picture

So what if they sell a swastika patch? just dont buy it! And i dont think "metal negro" is rascist. I think it's more a spin on "Metal Black" by venom, or "Black Metal."

If it were rascist it would be called metal nigger.

Besides who cares if they are rascist. You want a patch, they have the patch, you buy the patch THE END.

ShieldbitersValhalla's picture

Hahaha.

mayhempunk666's picture

hahahahahaha... im a ROCK N ROLL NIGGER!!!!!

Rover133's picture

Buy from who you want - because you don't know the the owner of any other site is NOT a racist. No matter what patches they sell.

mayhempunk666's picture

some where in another forum i posted the a bullet-ed comment responding to multiple questions brought up in a debate, here is a quote from my comment that may help you.

"In regards to funding a Ne0-Nazi paramilitary, Oh ya, the 8 bucks i spent on an NSBM/RAC demo is so gonna buy them a fucking tank"

in other words, buy the patch. Metal Negro is not racist at all and if they were buy it anyways.

i think they may be trying to be funny- that store is in Equidor.
i have a couple of patches from there they are good patches but they are slow delivery.

Hellpike's picture

I have bought all swastika patches they had - so there won't be a problem anymore ;)

P5's picture

Being conscientious about what you purchase and who you purchase from is one of the few and most important powers you have. Exercise it wisely. You are to be commended for your progressive thinking and attitude. It is a fair question to ask why someone would profit from selling a swastika? or wear one? or joke about it? It is also fair to question purchasing from that company. Dealing in swastikas is bad and providing them is bad and so is profiting Keep thinking your getting it right!

mayhempunk666's picture

how is a privately owned company selling a product that is in demand bad?

thrashbabe85's picture

Metal Negro is a South American based business. It translates to Black Metal. I don't think they meant any racist implacations.

DeathMetalCraze's picture

I was thinking the same

DeathMetalCraze's picture

I ordered from them and im part hispanic. I ignore the racism and buy my patch.
