Army camo jackets are good too. If you want to go sleeveless on them, it's extrememly easy to cut the sleeves off of those. I've found that it utilized customization a little more as well. Same with hoodie, but I still like doing denim jackets as well.
I work with Denim, Hoodies, and Army Jackets for my battlejackets.

you could also do a patched bag?
or an apron if you cook a lot.
or how about a patched trenchcoat or some other double breasted jacket?
