Just do you man if you like celine dion who gives a fuck throw that shit on there. I do suggest if you have pins use the screw on locking pin backs so your shit doesnt fall off in the pit
It doesn't matter, do as you please. Although archetypes for vests and jackets are exactly that because they are better looking/more traditional than less 'common' designs, just do you. Just don't the the dickhead with a bunch of Amazon patches purchased as a bundle, the guy with 3 inch spikes in the pit, or the dude who doesn't actually enjoy the bands he is representing. That's all I could consider as far as 'laws' if such a clarification is necessary to be made.
3. Almost same answer as the 2nd question, some ppl have some pop culture figure as a patch or movie related which works as well. lots of ppl have music from other genres as well.
4.Pins/badges are not a bad choice but dont be suprised if a few dissapear in the pit, have learned that the hard way :(
5.Rly rly depends on what kind of jacket ur going for.
there are plenty of more styles but those 5 are just examples. the Kutte ones tend to have a few of the same bands which is fine but IMO if ur not gonna have lots of patches (40-60 or less) then try to stick to 1 patch per band, it gets less creative rly fast if you have multiple patches of the same band and you can still see the denim https://tshirtslayer.com/battle-jacket/tomb-time
A good tip is to go to collectors group and look for what you want, it has helped me among other users here https://tshirtslayer.com/groups
But ofc its all up to you and what you wanna do, dont let other ppl talk into whats right and whats wrong.
Best answer possibly. And cheers for examples!
For pins, I tend to curve mine cerfuly, so it hold tight. But that's commitment, as if you try to open it again, the needle part break of.
A lot has been said already, but let me add that you should make a jacket that YOU like. Don't try to please anybody else but yourself. You have your style and you should be comfortable with your creation. The best thing about jackets/vest is that all are unique.
On tip from my side. There are a whole bunch of bad quality printed/sublimated patches out there that bleach quite quickly when exposed to the sun. These patches tend to be very cheap and have great detail because they are printed, but you get what you pay for.
Good luck with making your jacket 🤘😉🤘 I'm curious to see the end result here on TSS.
Question: although there are no real rules and everyone should make his kutte the way he (or she) likes, what is your position on football patches?
In a way (if you're into football) it would be cool to have a patch of your team on your kutte. On the other hand, is it a good idea to do so? Someone with an e.g. Feyenoord patch won't be making many friends in Amsterdam (or vice versa), likewise a Schalke patch in Dortmund, or a Millwall patch anywhere in England.
Aside of perhaps of a genuine swastika or a Skrewdriver patch etc. I can't think of many other types of patches more offensive than those of obviously shit football teams.
I'd say if you have a Nickleback backpatch and go to the pit with no fear, owning it like a man, that attitude in itself, that's pretty fucking metal. \m/
At least in my country (your example was a good one) I would not do it.
I wonder how bad it would be if you go to a gig. Let's say you wear an Ajax patch to a gig in Rotterdam (or other way around) I wonder how bad it would get in the venue itself. Since gigs tend to attract a crowd from all over the country (and sometimes beyond).
You still gotta walk through the city though...
In my country? I would not wear any football merch to any city that is not a supporter of that certain club.
Also regarding the topic question, like said before:
No
No
No
No.
Some small things to consider though with wearing:
Like I said to Andermatten, think twice about wearing anything (battlejacket or not) football related to a rival city. Feel free to sew on that fav club patch, just wear it in your or neutral cities.
Same with politics, wear a right leaning patch to a crust show? May be a bad idea. Are you a supporter of antifa but you still like that one band that got cancelled gigs by them? Maybe not wear the jacket with their patch on it to the gig. The fans might dislike it.
I've also seen people using fur from roadkill for example in their battlejacket designs. Might not do it at some left wing anarcho band where it is common knowledge they and all their fans are vegan.
These are not rules per se but just things to keep you save and have a nice time going out.
Also speaking of politics. In some countries some imagery is forbidden. Don't wear those images outside. Some countries still have religious laws etc etc.
Another thing to consider with battlejackets is that sometimes that can look like biker colors. And some bikers can be very sensitive about non MC people wearing biker look alike clothing. They see it as disrespect or something. So either don't wear your jacket around them or make one that doesn't seem to be inspired by their style. Top Rocker, big patch, bottom rocker.
Do what you want. Know WHAT you put on it and how it might affect the views of the groups you associate with at that moment. Make smart decisions how to keep having a save and good time.
Ofc depends on the biker. Also I've seen your page and you don't 1:1 copy their style.
I haven't heard much about metalheads getting in trouble. I heard some.
Mainly about people loving Sons Of Anarchy and wearing those jackets.
Do what you like, the only advice I'd give (which many others gave already) is if you use pins and buttons like I do, make sure you secure them so they don't fall off in the pit
Something that I always keep in my mind is this: if someone tells you something like “You SHOULD only wear patches of bands you saw live”, “You MUST use a backpatch of your most favorite album of your most favorite band”, “Your vest MUST only have metal related patches/pins”, “It MUST be a blue denim vest” or some other phrases like those, man, you can say to them to get fuck themselves. It’s your vest/jacket, it’s your money and time and it's you who is gonna wear it. It might be true that there is no “rules” about making your battle vest, but I do keep in mind some consideration in mines like trying not to repeat the same band in one vest/jacket or trying to get official or woven patches of bands I’ve seen live in some cases but, again, that’s what I decide to do with my stuffs. Do whatever as you please.
About the backpatch, nah, if you want to you can use a backpatch or not. You can even paint the back of the vest or you can fill it with small patches or studs or even leave the whole thing empty.
It’s not necessary that your vest must be all metal related. In my case with my “main” vest I have some wrestling stuff on it and even some things that my friends have gifted to me all these years. Even I have an inner pocket made with the fabric of a blanket that my dog used to have.
About the pins, well, that’s a good question. What I do is when I know it’s going to be a mosh pit at the show, I take the pins and buttons off. If I know the place I’m going to attend it ain’t be a mosh pit like a wrestling show, a session with my therapist o just to hang around with my friends I leave the things on,
Talking about how many patches of one band is enough is on you. I’ve seen vests and jackets with multiple patches of the same band like this one that has 8 Sodom patches including the backpatch and looks killer https://tshirtslayer.com/battle-jacket/vest-update-20-0
My vest is a very personal thing. So no one except me will wear it. Neither I will sell it.
Also be prepared to get drawn into nerdy discussions about any band you wear on your jacket. So don't have patches of bands you hardly know.
You don't even need a back patch. Some people like a tapestry of smaller patches on their back.
I have a back patch of a band and album I really like, and whose imagery is so great it deserves a place in the spotligt.
Q - is it only metal band stuff
Absolutely not, can be anything you like.
I have patches from Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Austin Powers and even Pokémon on mine.
All things that have brought me joy, just like the album and artist on my vest.
Q - are pins a bad choice
I had a few pins but replaced them with patches because they are even less likely to fall of, and because I prefer patches over pins. But here again, it's preference.
Q - how many patches of one band is enough
I have multiple Manowar, Iron Maiden, Grailknights, Bal-Sagoth and Therion patches.
I love these bands even more than the others and some patches are just too sexy not to sew on.

Minimalist vest usually have 10 or less patches in total. https://tshirtslayer.com/battle-jacket/gloom-chaos-vest
Kutte vest are the ones with 100+ patches and it looks like a shitshow (in a good way) https://tshirtslayer.com/battle-jacket/eternal-champion-battlevest-26
Regular vest are the ones with 20-80 patches (the most common one) https://tshirtslayer.com/battle-jacket/judas-priest-old-patches
