The origin of that back patch has a weird history. It is actually the first type back patch. Before everybody just painted or embroidered there shit. This is a LEVI Jacket I got on my birthday October 31 1983. I used to swim in it as a kid, now it just barely fits, on The inside of the jacket I have a sewed on shirt of the Misfits crimson ghost a lot of kids back then did shit like that. So some of the latest patches on there are from about 1990 or 91 I think there's 3 and the earliest is the led zepplin and round black Sabbath about 1978-80 the left sleeve has a US navy patch that I thought at the time was a Motorhead patch oh well and the one below it is a old patch givin to my dad from a chapter member of the Washington state Hells Angels club.
Just down loaded a pic of the inside Misfit shirt

This is fucking fantastic! I love the printed BP! Those patches look like they're practically fused to the denim, great stitching

Tight tight stitching that old Anthrax patch I tried stitching it over hand and you can't see it but its all fucked up! Lol!

Love this jacket! I've always had a thing for long sleeved jackets and this is one of the best ones I've ever seen. Never sell this my friend.

Old school as fuck!!!
Digging it mate, Love the Misfits on the inside, I seen Wednesday 13 the other week and learned something interesting about Maiden's Number of the Beast, They wanted Vincent Price to do the spoken word intro, Wanted Two million dollars for it, They told him to get fucked!!

the thing you have to remember is back in the day in 1981 82 iron maiden was only 4 - 5 -6 yearsold and touring in the US wouldve cost a shitload of money for those guys so yeah 2 million wouldve probably been like 5 million today. ha ha i could see that. And thankyou for the compliment Nater90. i didnt think anyone would really be impressed with it, its fuckin old and some of the vests i have seen on this forum are seriously fuckin nice i guess it has alittle character its the smell that inhances it too, LOL!. I think they still print alot of the old shirts still from back then I always see the Danzig shirts and Black and white misfit shirt but not that one.

Hell yeah be expensive, My Dad once got a flight over to where he lives now with his Aunty and Uncle and even for a 45minute flight back in the 70s/80s it was a pretty penny, I imagine Maiden having a fuck ton of gear would be huge!!!
Most welcome mate, I can't wait til my jackets are 20-30 years old looking back thinking when I first made it!!!
Yeah most bands are open to reprinting the classics which is great!!!

There's one problem when waiting for your Jacket to mature......you get old! ....fast!! And it sucks ass. Lol!
Nater90 on
Noooo not old, Experienced mate!!!

THERE YOU GO!! Lol!!! I like that better.

This jacket is totally awesome! How creative you were to sew in the Misfits shirt as a back liner for the jacket......never would have thought of doing that but I love the idea. You chose the great bands of the time period who, thankfully, have remained legendary. You may be right about the sleeve-thing being demographic......would make sense. You lived further north in a colder climate.....I am in the south east......I had not thought of that. Mine is also an American-made Levi's.....the ONLY denim jacket of the time! Aren't you glad you held on to this all these years? It's a classic.

A lot of guys did that to commemorate Cliff Burton, He always had his crimson ghost shirt on a LEVI jacket and he had a tattoo, then some guys just put whatever inaside . The all mighty stonewashed Levi jackets yeah that was a statement and now I'm glad my mom didn't throw this out I just wish it smelled a Little better and yes it is much cooler up here than down there in Kentucky it's gets rainy a lot and we where kids still to and the schools didn't allow torn or ripped shirts or pant cutoffs or Marijauna advertisment. But he'll you could have your COORS or RAINIERBEER shirt on and hold hands with your honey who had a miniskirt while walking down the hall! Don't ask me please. Ha Ha Ha. Thanks again for the compliment Scaryterri. I have one more jacket someplace with the Metallica 89 damage justice tour patch someplace and ill try to find it and post her here soon. That was a badass concert at Key Arena and yeah I'm very thankful those bands became successful I had my doubts about Megadeth a few times in the beginning but Mustaine held on good for him. I love the rust in peace album alot!

Great jacket! And I'm astonished at how good the (printed) patches still look after all these years and taken into account that you did a lot of glammer-bashing.;-)
Metaldemon on
Yeah I'm an Asshole when it came to Glam-shit! Hated it! Don't get me started! Lol!! ....... Most of the patches are embroidered patches and believe me the printed ones have issues you can't see it unless your right up on them and depending on how you sew them on depends a lot on how well they hold up. But there are quite a few if you look close up that are not in that great of shape there is some Patina happening on a lot of them my back patch does have some cracking happening and is getting stained. I tried taking care of my shit as a lot of us did with these cause getting patches where very hard to come by and I didn't wear it everyday either. But Thank you for the compliment Chainbteaker!!! Stay metal brada!!

Small world brother! And thankyou for the compliment.

Cool, this jacket holds a lot of Heavy metal history! Love reading stories by those who were a part of the 80's movement/scene.
