So my vest has come a long way. It went from THIS to what you see here. Moving, sewing, replacing until Ive reached this final product. A bit of everything, but my biggest metal influences are thrash and folk. But I do really like it all, just not enough room to represent it all. I added a close up of the Falkenbach red logo patch I got from Abyss Records because I think it's one of the most beautiful patches ive ever seen. Falkenbach's logo is already amazing, and the music is even better. I hope you like it! If you have any questions, then ask! I dont think there will be any more vest updates from here on : )

it looks amazing 5 funeral pyres man.....the only thing i dont dig is covering the ensiferum viking logo
HeathenThrone on
I had to make that decision, and I'd figure someone would say that. I like the logo, but It also has a lot of void black space. So, I figured I'd get the helmet, axe, and sword in there, but compromise the face. It was a tough decision, but it works. I wish they made Ensiferum large logo embroidered patches, or a back patch with a larger logo. Or else I woulden have covered it.
ShieldbitersValhalla on
It turned out great! Yes, that would be a tough decision. How do you move your patches around? Do you just use a razor and start cutting the stitching carefully? Thats how I would imagine somebody doing it but I haven't done any moving yet. I'll eventually move stuff around though.
HeathenThrone on
Placement is key on any vest, but usually I cut them off and re sew them somewhere else. i think on my vest only the Blind guardian and Ensiferum back patch have stayed there since vest inception : ) But moving stuff around is good, and worth the extra labor.

i agree completely that they need to make big logo patches...i would suggest adding a few smaller ones to cover up the rest of the viking head though
HeathenThrone on
That's actually a really good idea and I might do that... maybe a big one?

that works too man, the trick is finding one narrow enough

That Falkenbach patch is beautiful, I'm going to have to listen to some on youtube right now.
I gave your vest 5 flames a few months ago so I suppose I'll have to figure out a way to give it 6 now.

Thanks man! Falkenbach is AMAZING, but definately start out with the latest release "Heralding the Fireblade", every song is amazing. Havamal and Skirnir are my personal favorites. Also he is releasing a record in 2011 called Tiurida. Should be great.

Well I got some bad news and some good news- bad news is I couldn't find a way to hack the site and give you 6 flames, though the good news is I'm enjoying some Falkenbach. Listened to Heathen Foray and I'm half way through '...When Gjallarhorn Will Sound' and I'll definitely check out their most recent album later on tonight.
You should check out Istapp's 2010 release 'Blekinge' if you haven't already- an excellent blend of melodic black metal and folk metal. Start with 'I Väntan På Den Absoluta Nollpunkten,' 'Vinterriket' or 'Koldens Union,' all of which have a strong enough folk influence.

Im glad you like it! but honestly all Falkenbach albums are great, Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty is really good too. Falkenbach really set the standard for accoustic folk/ blackened folk. Istapp sounds good Ill defiantely check them out more...

If I were you, I'd do the following:
Move Impending Doom patch to where the Kreator patch is
Put Kreator patch by At War Patch
Put Amon Amarth patch below Moonsorrow patch
Put Forbidden patch above Moonsorrow patch
Move Ensiferum backpatch up.
That should just about clear space to have the backpatch visble :)
HeathenThrone on
I guess I could but it's too lat now, moonsorrow is sewn into the ensiferum backpatch, so is amona amrth and forbidden. I just don't think that would work in the end. But thanks for the suggestion!
dial-a-death on
fair enough. I just don't really see the point in having the backpatch if you cover it all up...

Insane vest man, I don't like folk but this jacket is awesome

damn, I love your Falkenbach and Amon Amarth patches
and the Sodom patch looks awesome too, where you get those?

officialabyssrecords.com : )
**Edit: Im not a representative for them or anything but just saying Dan Furguson handles all the orders, he usually emails you the same day with a confirmation. then he tells you when it will be shipped out, and that's usually fast. He packages the pathes well, and It's all around a good deal and great site. 100% trustworthy and I have never had an issue. I reccomend it highly.
Metaalharses on
I have to confirm this, abyssrecords confirms and send out orders promptly. in comparisson to warheadrecords which dont react to email enquiries and send out the order after 8 days you placed the order.

i love falkenbach, i still need to get a patch.
looks really great but i wouldnt have put a patch over the bp.
i would have put amon amarth above bp and then forbidden directly over the ensiferum logo.
of course it is not seen anymore then but i wouldnt mind i rather have an other logo seen there instead of the backpatch artwork being hidden by a large patch.
5/5 flames.
-nothingmore.
ps: what happened to your I AM THE WAAAAAAAAAAAR Sodom?
Necrosathanas on
Pretty nice on the patches, but would look better if you'd just cut the ensiferum logo into shape and remove the rest of the bp. By the way, where did you get that Falkenbach?
