Vomit.
Adrian on
I'm with you 100% on that comment!
HeathenThrone on
Yeah haha. Cradle of Filth isnt metal, and Danny Filth is a girl. Nuff said.
666natas666natas666 on
they make some of the sickest shirts though
dungeonvic on
Cradle of Filth isn't metal? Haha, this trendy bashing of bands is ridiculous. So what do they play, if not metal?
(not a Cradle of Filth fan by a longshot btw)
Adrian on
Yes they are metal, but they suck. I find no redeeming qualities about them at all. And their fan base is entirely made of poser hot topic kids, just like other bands such as Slipknot and Dragonforce.
Earl Justice on
Can I just ask here, what is so wrong with hot topic and why do people keep banging on about it?
It's a shop yes, and it sells metal stuff as far as i can gather from their website. What's the problem with it?
Oh and early Cradle albums are good. Principles of Evil Made Flesh and From Dusk and Her Embrace are black metal. Admittedly these days they're more like a goth Iron Maiden, but that's still metal.
Grain Silo on
I think its the fact that most kids that shop there, at least at the one near me, are mostly stupid trendy deathcore kids and they sell 90% deathcore shirts. Then you find out the kids that buy the Iron Maiden, Metallica, slayer, and all the good shirts don't even like that band, they just like how it looks so they're posers.
Earl Justice on
I see. There's quite a lot of these shops then is there?
A few years ago in the UK a high street shop called Top Man started selling Motorhead and Maiden inspired shirts. That annoyed the piss out of me.
Grain Silo on
There's a Hot Topic in almost every mall I think.
Adrian on
Yeah, that sums it up.
And yeah, they're all over the place. And thanks to them you have kids wearing British Steel or Number of the Beast shirts and they don't know the first thing about Priest or Maiden!
dungeonvic on
OK, so you don't like them but from that to say that their *entire* fanbase is made of poser kids is totally ridiculous. I have many friends who dig them and they are what you would call real metalheads. Same goes for Slipknot (which I think is a good band btw) and Dragonforce. I've met Herman Li in the UK when Dragonforce had just a demo out, the dude was in every single metal concert you can think of, very knowledgable about all things power/prog, I guess I am not fond of jumping on the bashing bandwagon, just because is it is the hip thing to do...
Adrian on
Well, maybe it's different over in the UK, I wouldn't know, but here in America it's like this; Everyone I've ever met who liked Cradle of Filth was the stereotypical hot topic poser. And previously I've tried showing some of them stuff like Emperor, Mayhem, or even Immortal only to get told it sucked or whatever compared to Cradle of Filth.

sounds like you hang out with alot of posers!what was that in middle school last year! im tired of sticking up for cof my favs are SLAYER and DEICIDE far from cof.try keeping more of a open mind to music unlike your buddys who dont like your kind of metal and instintly shoot it down you keep doin it too, and see who the real posers are.it just might be you
Adrian on
Ha, middle school, that was quite some time back, around then I mostly listened to classic death metal and a little grunge.
My favorite genre is thrash/speed metal, so why would I care for something like COF? To be cool? No, that's not me. You can call me closeminded, but honestly I don't care, life is too short to waste listening to music I don't truly love.
If COF is what appeals to you that's fine, all I did in the first place was agree with a commment one person made about their opinion on the band. Every further comment has been an elaboration. I'm sorry if you felt attacked, I have no interest in starting internet wars.
666natas666natas666 on
its funny to see the bands that you gus like then you bash on cof you more posers than anyone by judging other metal bands! what is cof too hard core for you posers. its black metal.because you werent educated enough to know now you do. so you go hail your motly crue ,metallica shirts, and leave mine alone
666natas666natas666 on
hot topic rules!!!!!i love metal, and metal shirts, i love seeing all metal shirts, and all different people wearing them i gave shirts to all my brothers and select freinds.who cares where they get them.
666natas666natas666 on
thanx doctor.they have been influincing me lately i am evolvig more allaround metal and exploring more.the more twisted the better
666natas666natas666 on
any time you ever see someone wearing your favorite metal shirt you should give them horns up, not what a poser where did you get it hot topic? seems to me haters should go hang out with the jocks and preps with that mentality
Earl Justice on
I kinda agree, though not being American its easy to not be bothered by Hot Topic. Most of my metal tapes I got when I was growing up were bought from a shop called Woolies, there used to be one in every town high street (every UK metaller will know what I'm on about). This was a shop where your mum could get her mops, frying pans and birthday cards and you got WASP and Maiden tapes.
Phosphorous_Redeemer on
Hot topic print their own shirts. basically bootlegging though the shirts they sell online are mostly licensed but they do not sell those shirts in the stores. The bands they represent make pretty much no money off the sales (they get like 25 cents for every shirt sold). The shirts fade and look shitty very fast. Hot topics are all over america, every mall and alot of outlets. The crowd there isnt metal at all, and most people who shop there buy shirts from bands they dont listen to and will openly admit to it. They sell whatever sells most, like cof, metallica, cannibal corpse, twilight, anime and all that fad bullshit. If you want real metal merchandise, visit your local record shops. If there arent any in your area, check out webstores like metal devastation or catatoniatx.com. Watch the southpark episode about hot topic, goths and vampires and thats pretty much how it really is.
CryptKeeper on
Haha I love that SP-episode, Butters looking for blood to drink... Though I don't know Hot Topic 'cause I'm European. Don't know any metal shop around either, I got all my stuff from shows of (mostly) the internet...
