...So now I have a huge crush on John Mortimer that just keeps growing every time I meet him. It didn't help that the first thing he did when he saw me after their Brofest headlining set was to give me a kiss on the cheek XD Seriously though, such a thoughtful (and approachable) guy. I think I lucked out with my two favourite bands both being composed of really excellent people.
I actually got invited to the band afterparty, but I had to eat something (typical festival almost-starvation diet got the better of me), found friends and then got completely lost on the way there and only found the pub just as it was closing. Oh well.
The rest of Brofest was also excellent. Wytch Hazel, Spartan Warrior, Deep Machine and Tysondog were the best bands excepting Holocaust. I've wanted to buy some music from DM ever since I saw them supporting Manilla Road and wanted to wait until after the show to look at merch, by which time everything had gone, but unfortunately they only had shirts. Them being a London band, hopefully we'll get some more gigs at home because they really are excellent. I also wish I hadn't refused to listen to Tysondog before because of their stupid name - real Atomkraft/Venom-type stuff, as I should have expected.
Holocaust were even better here than they were in Edinburgh a month ago. I think they suit a larger stage very nicely! If you get the chance to see them live now, you should go without hesitation. (Just don't expect the mid-period stuff to make an appearance, because it's not going to happen... yet.)
The CD below is the Heavy Metal Maniacs single by Erase (GRE), which was being given away free by one of the Greek guys who was with Holocaust. I really like the B-side on this, 'Metal Force'.

I really wanted to fly out for that one.
Heard the Wytch Hazel guys were so drunk that they had to be carried off.

Yeah, apparently the bassist enjoyed himself a little too much at the party after the first day XD I didn't go to that, though, because I'd had three hours of sleep and an eight-hour coach journey and didn't want to die before seeing Holocaust the next day!
The festival was really awesome, so small but with people from all over the world there. There's almost certainly going to be another one next year, and if that happens I can really recommend it!

Going to see Holocaust at Keep It True!

The lineup for that is so damn good, wish I could afford to go.
Enjoy!

I was so drunk the bouncers didn't let me in for Holocaust, but it was a great festival!
