I think only exists this design because the artwork of the album is a painting called "Satan I" by the artist H.R. Giger, who was gifted to the band in 84 under the condition that they would refrain from exploiting these works in any other manner, namely as merchandise. They keep that promise until some years when Tom reunites with Giger and come to the mutual agreement of made official shirts with this artwork.

the original hasn't got the satan I artwork on it in the first place, don't correct if you don't know what you're talking about chief ;)
