my slayer opinion is that south of heaven is kinda stuck between 2 really big slayer albums seasons and reign in blood and it feels sorta left behind next by those 2
and my iron maiden which seems to have pissed you off
well its because this whole album feels to happy sounding to me and songs like can i play with madness really get on my nerves for some odd reason and the evil that men do sounds really cheesy to me
after i typed this i wondered if maybe since the last time i listened seventh son was 2022 if my music taste has changed it has seventh son is pretty good but i still do not like evil that men do and can i play with madness
HAHAHAHA THIS IS FUNNY WE ARE ALL LAUGHING EVEN THOUGH IN REAL LIFE WE ARE NOT AND WE ARE JUST STARING AT COMPUTER SCREENS AND ARE REALLY JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT SOUND LESS AWKWARD BUT IT STILL IS HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
My most heretical opinion regarding metal: Bruce Dickinson’s late 90s solo albums are better than anything Iron Maiden ever made. Don’t get me wrong, I love Maiden but there’s a place in my heart for Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding that none of their other works can match, with the possible exception of Piece of Mind
i actually agree with that and heres another unpopular opinion glam metal actually has some real good stuff in it and dont deserve alot of the hate it gets
I actually agree with this, I mean there’s good releases from 96-98 as well but it rapidly peters out after that and I don’t think I could even assemble a “yearly top ten” for any year after 98 or 99
Painkiller is totally a popular opinion as their best but I think they have a lot of albums that people consider as their favorite. Stained Class, Screaming For Vengeance and Defenders Of The Faith are also really popular.
It's almost the same thing with Riot. Some people think its obvious that Thunder Steel is their best but I much prefer their 70s stuff...
All old school retro revival metal is fucking garbage, if I wanted to listen to something that sounded like it was made in the early 90s I would just listen to actual bands from then
I agree with you on the quality of the music, but getting to see live and fresh Death Metal is kinda nice.... just cause don't get tours from our old school heroes the same way we did in days gone by.
1. St. Anger isn’t that bad and is underrated, I’m not saying it’s amazing but it’s definitely not horrible LuLu is 100 times worse
2. Reign In Blood is overrated, it’s still a good album but definitely not there best or perfect Seasons in the Abyss and South of Heaven are much better in my opinion
3. Deftones are super overrated, I do not understand why people like them so much I think there boring and do not get why people say there the best nu metal band when there are many bands that are better
Interesting opinions!
1. St Anger? It's better than people think and there is good stuff buried within. There's a lot of dull and aimless 'songs' to wade through to find that good stuff though.
2. RIB overrated? Heresy! Seasons... is definitely underrated but has two thrash-by-numbers fillers in 'Born of Fire' and 'Hallowed Point'. SOH is great but runs out of steam at the end. All the classics on there are on side one (as it used to be)
3. Deftones - better them than Coal Chamber or any of those other cartoony Nu Metal bands.
1-the fact we like the same music doesn't make me your 'family' and I'm no ones 'brother in metal'. Nothing irritates me more than after a long busy day traveling home in a crowded train for 2,5h someone having to sit in next to me acting like we friends already and having this long conversations about my shirt.
I'm not a talkative person. I'm one that likes my own circle and not much outside it. I prefer to be left alone.
I came to a point where I tell people I bought the design and don't know anything about the genre and excuslively listen to *insert non metal genre*.
Liking the same band does not obligate me being your friend. Let alone brother. Because I am not.
2-the amount of virgins/incels is higher than in most mainstream genres.
Straight facts, been wanting to say the exact same thing out loud for ages🙏 I've been at both the giving and receiving end of unwanted interactions at gigs/online/on the street, and it just feels sour during and after the fact, I still cringe at them today, learning to respect the space is a benefit to everyone 🖤🖤
It was a unpopular opinion like 10-15 years ago when the more obscure bands where starting to get discovered.
But since the newer generation of kids like u and me among other ones who have internet access on a daily basis this has become way more popular of a opinion today.
If you said this in the early 2000 then yes it would have been weird.
not sure whether random metalheads will disagree, but..
in the beginning, there was rock ('n roll). then there came heavy metal. which (imo) developed into speed, thrash, death, grind, perhaps doom (I'm not going to go into glam), NWOBHM. doom turned into stoner, grind went all over the place, myriad sub-drawers of musical genres appeared. guys would call themselves 'deathcore is not metal' (where'd he go by the way?). grunge, crossover, goregrind, porngrind, melodic folk death metal, powerviolence (which I love!!), shoegazing-post-black-metal. everything quite complicated.
viking metal. FFS! I am confused. NSBM. seriously? I'm sure everyone knows a subgenre not yet listed here.
I love almost all of this music, but its becoming increasingly difficult for me to differentiate and explain exactly what kind (or type, or genre) of music I'm talking about
A lot of NWOTHM is not very good because it is overproduced and unoriginal. Don’t get me wrong, I think that worship-type bands can be good and I do look for new heavy metal releases/bands often. Listening to all these new releases though is often like digging through brimstone and finding a gem or two. It has made me unenthusiastic about NWOTHM so I am skeptical many new releases outside those from a few labels and mostly stick to 80’s stuff. However, much of these nwothm bands seem to play on surface level 80’s tropes/aesthetics and have fairly boring/mediocre songwriting and music. I find this oddly similar to the whole neothrash and maggot stomp “osdm” ordeal. This is my opinion.
RTL does have some slow moving songs BUT that what makes it overwhelmingly heavy. With the acoustical style introduction, it just continues to get heavier with each song until it finally ends with The Call Of Ktulu. So while the songs do go at a slower pace from Kill Em All or Master of Puppets it seams perfectly "sandwiched" between those two classics. Just my own opinion.
I recently thought of some more unpopular opinions so I’ll list them off some more
1. Chaos Horrific is super overrated, the album is still pretty good but it’s definitely not there best.
2. Avenged Sevenfold is boring and uninteresting, the only song I like is bat country and city of evil is so overrated. The solos are ok and the singing sucks. I do not and never will understand why people love them so much
3. The Sex Pistols are probably the worst punk band I’ve ever heard. Listening to never mind the bollocks was painful and hard to do. The singing is some of the worst I’ve heard and the guitar is boring and generic
4. Napalm Deaths scum is not very good. I thought the album was very boring and not interesting

Metallica 'Load' is a great album. Bit bloated in places I know but it has some killer tunes.

I have a few...hehe...
No, the best Judas Priest album is NOT Painkiller...
I dont mind bootlegs of old designs - its not my fault that the most new designs of bands are crap...and they NOT let the cool stuff reprinted..
Slayer is not the best Thrash Metal band of all time...
Different colours @shirts (beside black!) is great! (example: Purple Carcass, Yellow Anthrax, White Bolt Thrower..etc)

Stained Class is fantastic and was way ahead of it's time. It set the template for a lot of modern metal.
