This is my second vest, started in early 2023 and at first I was thinking of making a more old school oriented vest. But it sort of spiraled out of hand, almost completely. I decided to go for a more "feel don't think" sort of approach and this is where we're currently at. Or were, I am doing adjustments and have already taken out the coffin Darkthrone patch in the back as well as some of those little cheap silver pyramids. I'll go all in for the dirty bronze shade for consistency's sake.
I would replace the backpatch with something more ...exciting I guess, if it wasn't buried so deep already. I guess it stays and ends up largely covered up. I'm also thinking of removing the crap around the Tiamat patch and putting a narrow patch there instead. Possibly also stripping off the collar and further adjusting the surrounding areas. That will be another version number then!

Thanks man, appreciate it! I feel like this is permanently WIP but at some point I want to get it to more or less permanently ready so I can concentrate on other projects, and I think once I fill a few gaps and (possibly) remove the collar that's it.

Thanks, and I'm glad you asked! This is "Black Metal Ankat" which is sort of a Finnish meme, Donald Duck comics with rewritten speech bubbles. You may or may not have noticed I had the same patch on the lost vest as well, it's a thing for a circle of my comrades that frequently go to festivals and gigs together.
Donald is saying (rough, non-direct translation): "What the fuck is it this time, I thought we were done with this kind of crazy shit?"
Scrooge replies: "Fuck you! Never stop the madness and here we go again!"
I can provide some examples of the Black Metal Ducks with little digging if you wish, but in a nutshell Scrooge is in them a very kvlt and trve black metal/war metal/nsbm (sometimes, sometimes not, depends on who made 'em) enthusiast/maniac, at times also into heavy drugs and so on. Collects first presses etc, basically a parody/caricature of certain scene people.

Great work, very motivational! The more I see examples of this style, the more I want to try to make one using it myself. When I started my current vest, I was explicitly avoiding any layering and ended up with maybe more of a wearable patch collection than a battle vest, but I still like the symmetry I was going for. But using layering really expands the possibilities, I'm just afraid a second vest project would take me another 20 years to make a wearable milestone :D

Thanks Jay! It somehow became like this through a process I don't quite understand myself! :D I think it's pretty fun to let one vest spiral out of hand, so to say. I am planning to do more formal and restrained take on a current project I started actually two days ago. It's going to be mostly yellow and gold on black vest. Deadline is next March so I don't need to rush there. Hopefully. ;)
