I debated for a long time whether or not this VERY subtle variation of a classic design merited its own entry on here. But having seen a few others surface recently on various resale sites, it seems like something worth acknowledging for the rarity it is. Tool's iconic Wrench shirt (the original Opiate-era print that soldiered through the 1990s) needs no explanation; Tool logo in a large white rectangle - Wrench on rear - Bob's your uncle. However, in the late '90s, for reasons unknown, the cropping of the rectangle (which remained solid white) was trimmed down on all sides and the boldness of the logo was very slightly increased. In fact, dimensionally speaking, the front is identical to 1993's Jesus Christ print, sans the image of Ecce Homo. The final prints in the early 2000s, following the demise of Tool's contract with Giant, would revert to the original circa '91 dimensions. The Wrench print itself remained unchanged on both versions ever since the original color inversion around 1993-94. Almost all of these were printed during Giant's "silkscreen" tag era of the later '90s. And this thing is thrashed.
