Cool
oldmate
this is another fucking nice tee!!
metal_thrashing_dad on
Why they didn't have an event shirt at FortaRock when i see them? This is great!!!
Doktor Kananga on
Oh, this would be great.
Just imagine:
Eddie with wooden shoes on a bike with a cheese under one arm and a strangely shaped cigarette in the mouth racing over a bridge that spans a gracht in amsterdam......
I can see it clearly now!
metal_thrashing_dad on
Ha, ha, send your idea to Iron Maiden. Maybe next time they will do it!!!
NoahM
Yup, but this summer there are only 3 event shirts: Nordic, France, and UK, as well as a general Euro tour shirt with a slightly tweaked Maiden England design. I have a buddy going to the show in Arras (France) next month who promised to pick me up a France event shirt. \m/
Doktor Kananga on
This is one of the best (if not the best) nordic Event shirts Maiden every released....
Sadly not yet available in the official store, but the french from this year is ;-)
Will post it as soon as I get it ;-)
NoahM
It's definitely a cool design (and nice to FINALLY be done with the horse jumping over something), but surely there must be something about Norway, Sweden & Denmark that doesn't involve Vikings. . .there have been half a dozen Viking Eddie shirts since 2006 already - time for something new! France was also a huge disappointment to me - we've seen Eddie as Napoleon and the Citroen was in last year's shirt too. . .it's lazy & repetitive. . .there are so many iconic French images as yet unused. . .how about Eddie as a gargoyle at Notre Dame for instance?
As for the Megastore shirts - avoid them! They don't have dates on the back and aren't considered collectible by the hardcore fans. . .I'd wait until the first rush dies down on eBay. . . 4 - 6 months from now, you'll be able to get a dated France shirt for less than they cost at the gig!!! \m/

I never had that kind of luck on german or british ebay in the past, at least not for XXL-Shirts.
From time to time a german or nordic event shirt from last years tour leg pops up.....and very rarely a dated XXL O2 or French version.
Perhaps it´s different on ebay.com, but Postage/Pakage to europe is expensive and don´t forget about custom fees and taxes....
So Dates or not: I´m glad that Maiden make the Designs Available for a reasonable price.....and once they are out of print, they´re gone. So somehow these shirts are collectibles in their own right, of course with a lesser price tag then a dated version.
If somebody absolutely needs a dated event shirt (even of dates he/she doesn´t even attend) then ok.........
But honestly: I give a shit what the so called "Hardcore fans" consider collectible or not ;-)
Just my opinion (and please don´t take it the wrong way or somethin......)
Let´s just say I see things a little bit different on that matter......
NoahM
Hey man! No offense taken at all. Totally understandable, and you're right - XXL is definitely way less common than L or XL. I collect only the dated versions, but don't look at the dates as a way of "pretending" I was there - to me the dated shirts are the "1st edition" of the t-shirts and the MegaStore versions are "re-prints."
When I used the phrase "hard-core fans," I certainly didn't mean to imply that you weren't one, and I can definitely see how people would want the event shirt artwork regardless of dates. Makes total sense and sorry if I said anything that offended you!!
Rock on & up the Irons \m/
Doktor Kananga on
No need to apologize, no harm done ;-)))))))))))))))
And don´t worry about the hardcore-fan thing either ;-)
I´m just a fan and I´m just collecting shirts of my favorite Band. I have to admit:
I envy everybody with a size lesser than XXL. So much more (vinatage!) shirts to find....
Back in the 80s, there was no XXL. Trust me, I was there ;-)))))))))))))))))))))
But I like the "1st edition/Reprint" Comparision.....never saw it that way.
So again: No harm done/no need to apologize (and I hope you didn´t took my psot as an insult or something...it was not meant as such!)
TIme to leave the office: Black Sabbath are playing tonite ;-))))))))))
NoahM
Haha - nope, no offense taken - trouble with e-mail and written posts like this is that you sometimes can't read the person's tone. Anyway, it's all good!
I was there in the 80s too - up until 1985 or so I was buying tour shirts in size M (amazingly, many of these still fit today, although tight), and after that it was L. I prefer L these days although I can wear M or XL just as easily; M is SLIGHTLY small and XL SLIGHTLY big but nothing I can't wear.
Enjoy the Sabbath show!! Very cool. Priest just announced their new US tour for the fall - they're playing Brooklyn and I'm waiting for tickets to go on sale!
Doktor Kananga on
Barclay Center?????????
Sabbath was fantastic last night!!!!!!!! Was open air in a stadium and after Black Label society, Thunderstorm went off!
They cleared the pitch for safety reasons, show was delayed, but Ozzy was fired up last night and the crowd went crazy. Never heard such a clear and heavy live sound! Just great.
NoahM
Yes, Barclay! They're also playing the Meadowlands (sorry- can't bring myself to say Izod), but I'm going to be out of town that night. . . but at least I'll catch the Barclay show!
Fantastic about BS. . . very cool. I like "13" a lot, so nice to hear they still put on a rockin' show!!
Doktor Kananga on
Just checked th tourdates. Argh, october! I´ll be in NYC in august, so I will miss that opportunity...
NoahM
Bummer!! That sucks. . . happy to pick you up a tour shirt if you want, though. . .
Doktor Kananga on
That would be cool. Might come back to that....
Thanks for the offer, mate ;-)
NoahM
My pleasure. . .any any time you wanna trade - next Maiden tour maybe - happy to pick you up a NY t-shirt for a Germany one, even trade. . .
\m/
Doktor Kananga on
That´s a fantastic idea! so yeah, let´s wait for the next tour.....
;-)
After two years of european dates, I have the feeling that you guys come first next time
NoahM
Great!! We did have a mini-tour last year. . .I flew out to Missouri to see them play in St. Louis, since there were no east coast shows! But great, let's definitely do a swap next big tour!!!
