Reading this sure makes one realize how pompous and self absorbed Euronymous was.
Nice shirt overall, but that backprint must be one of the most cringe-worthy things I've read in my life.

I find it especially funny how he lash out at Deicide here. A band that, to my knowledge are 100% genuine with their satanic message. Yet this guy revered Venom. Witch obviously only used it as a gimmick. To great effect must be confessed, but a gimmick none the less.
Not trying to bring Venom down, love both bands. I just find it very superficial of him. Ah, well. To his defense he might not have known about it at the time.

Yeap, rememeber these days and a few years forward (around `92-`95) like yesterday fucking horrible times with alot of assholes in the scene and alot of them in my city in fact.
Alot of "badass" guys who run around acting toughguys with no interest in music what so ever.
And yeah Venom has nothing and absolutley nothing to do with this stuff, may be an insperation to more extreme bands but Venom was/is all about Heavy Metal Rock`Roll getting hammered and have a good time.

Some people try way too hard to prove some arbitrary level of authenticity(Aka, being true) to others instead of just enjoying the music and having a good time doing it. I think Fenriz said it best: "First rule of the poser is to let the music come second".

Euro, Varg, and Dead were the only ones who read so much into it. Necro would sooner none of it had happened; it's why he quit in the first place. HH was along for the ride and was kind of letting the hype roll. You ought never let the sideshow become bigger than the circus however, and Dead's suicide and Euro's murder was doing just that. Scene kids get into Mayhem because "it's that band where those guys died and the church burnings" yada yada. Probably don't even like the music, just want to give the parents an apoplexy or seem hardcore to their peers or whatever.

I love old Mayhem, and I recognize the historical significance of this photo and the events surrounding it. However, having said that, I would never wear this shirt.
Lets also keep in mind that Euronymous was a young man caught up in the start of something new when all this was going on. Hed be middle aged these days and I dare say that his opinions on things wouldve changed had he lived. Sadly, we'll never know and this image, loved or hated, will never go away and will forever serve as a reminder of those times.
