Manegarm/Skyforger/Goddess Of Desire - Revenge Of The Pagan Gods European Tour 2006 - TShirt (2006)

This shirt has quite a baffling story to tell. It was my second time seeing Skyforger, we saw them the year before at a very small venue in Dortmund where my friends and me even had the opportunity to party with them after the show. The promoter was friends with the band and we knew him. So next year we of course wanted to see them again when we heard they were touring and playing in Essen. They remembered us, so each got a huge fan package since they were carrying merch this time. But that is not the point of the story, the point is that the first band almost burned the venue down with their pyrotechnics! As far as I remember, Goddess Of Desire opened and they used gerbs shortly after starting their set. I don't know if they were even allowed to use pyrotechnics, but their gerbs ignited the decorations around the stage and the fire went up to the ceiling where it started to jump from strut to strut as the dust, which has accumulated there, was catching fire. I still vividly remember looking up and seeing the flames hopping below the ceiling past me to the back of the room. There were not many people inside yet, so we left calmly and nobody got hurt. Fortunately for us, the rest of the building was not that easily inflammable and no stuff was standing or hanging around that the fire could progress to, so the fire (or the rest of it) was quickly put out. The venue was ventilated and the show went on. It didn't even make any news that I know of. The opening band wasn't allowed to finish their set, though. Now this is something that makes me feel really weird when I think about it. I know of at least two rock concerts that, having the same initial situation, ended in tragedies. I'm really thankful for the luck we had that evening.

  • Yo thanks! Got it recently at their NYC show.
  • Kitchen war stories and insults, yet somehow completely irrelevant to patches or anything anyone here actually cares abo
  • You planning to hover over my account and chime in every time you dislike something? The obsession’s getting obvious.
