This is an extremely rare official embroidered back patch from around 1980. This patch was used on the jackets of roadies for Maiden in the early 80's. See:

This one is still sealed and thus in perfect condition. I also like the design a lot, and one of my favorites in my collection.

I didn't knew it either, but then I found this patch on the profile of AcesHigh (https://tshirtslayer.com/patch/iron-maiden-1980-official-backpatch). In his title he claims its official, so I wrote him a message if it was true. AcesHigh is a huge Maiden fan and discussed this matter with many other fans in forums. He also gave me the links to the Road Jacket pictures.
I think this patch is really nice, even if it would have not been official. It's a embroidered patch and looks very high quality to me. In the close up of Eddie you can see all the nice colored details in his face and hair.

gotta tell you that this version is a bit different from AcesHigh user version and the others from that page you posted, mostly on the details and the sew technique used. im not saying its a fake or a bootleg maybe its from another company that made them for Maiden back then,who knows. cool item anywways.

You're right. I was less critical than you, but you are right that there are some small differences in the sewing technique compared to the patch of AcesHigh. Comparing to the ones in the pictures is near impossible since the pictures in the links are too small for a fair comparison.
It indeed is a very cool patch. I do like it a lot :D
