Sick as hell!! The only thing I wish that pins and belt buckles don't contain is the fucking lead
doctordeath on
It's not lead,.it's pewter, which is tin based?
hexerey on
It is tin based but contains a significant percentage of lead. Especially the 90s stuff is contaminated with it. That thing is gorgeous and I'd buy it in a heartbeat but handling it would make me uncomfortable
doctordeath on
pewter has been lead free for about 50 years now
hexerey on
That's not true. It is still in use albeit not as much. The 90s stuff is definitely sketchy when it comes to this...

the amount of assumptions here is amazing, how do you even know? did you meet the guy who made this item? did you measure the metallurgy?

I don't wanna fight, dude. There's no need. Lets just say I'm 99% sure because lead was and still is cheap and easy to work with when casting. Back then nobody gave a shit about lead let alone in something as niche as metal pins. I admit I've never tested something personally but doing research about this topic because I care about my safety leads me to the assumption that pins and this belt buckle too contain lead.

I wish I could tell you guys what it's made of. If you have ways for me to figure out I'm all ears. I'm also not versed on what belt buckle materials so its fair to say that y'all seem to know more about it than me.

Hey, all good! doctordeath is right: it's made of pewter. The grayish color might be a hint that it is oxidized lead. If you really wanna make sure there's test swabs that should turn red when you rub them on the metal surface🤔
