NatassjaInEtern...
Let's hope not, haha!

sweet shorts
NatassjaInEtern...
Thanks!
Joel
The irony of clothing like this is that this is exactly what that classic Black Metal scene was pushing back against. They were expressing their distaste for old school Death Metal bands adopting this type of fashion in underground Metal.

Those days are gone and buried. Todays Black Metal doesnt have anything to do with what atrracted many of us to the genre.
I guess in a way we're lucky to have experienced being the outsiders and against everything in this world. Now its back to being normal.
NatassjaInEtern...
I have to agree. You would have never seen a black metal band with shorts in the 1990's. But these days are totally different. Besides, I really needed some shorts that actually fit me.
I really do miss those days though...

The good part is that nowadays BM is more about music and quality improved a lot. Before it was all about the spirit and music was secondary but that spirit is all but gone.
NatassjaInEtern...
I really miss that spirit, it really made things magic.

I think once BM musicians reached their 30's, they realized that its time to make money...and that spirit got oblitirated. It is probably there, just not with the 90's BM musicians...maybe some younger underground bands still profess that. I am just to old to dig for it :)
Joel
I wouldn't say that the music of recordings like Vikingligr Veldi, Nightside Eclipse, Pure Holocaust, Thy mighty Contract, His Majesty at the Swamp, Det som engang Var, etc. is secondary at all.
vkok on
not these ones in particular. agree.
NatassjaInEtern...
Well, everyone needs some sort of an income. It's just sad to me that the spirit left. But what can you expect I guess? I don't see much I am interested in these days. The younger scene is into a whole new technology I don't understand or even want to, and seems to be into merchandise than music? I am just glad that I could experience what I did when I could. I am old, haha.

Agree! Merch wasnt a thing back in the day and moreover wasnt all that easily accessible. I remember most people liked really cut up or beated shirts...nowadays everyone comes to shows in shiny new shirts and clothes....and wearing headphones in a concert....and the flashing smartphones while Eric from Watain praying to Satan just takes the cake :))
NatassjaInEtern...
True. I haven't been to a show in ages, mostly because I have grown to hate crowds, but what you just wrote is a sad reminder of why I also stay home.
I usually wear my shirts until they need to be recycled if it's a band I really like! You may have noticed that in some of my shirt photos. ;)
My shoes probably all need to be thrown out and new, haha. Nothing survives winter here long.
vkok on
its the damn salt they throw on sidewalks and roads. All my shoes get destroyed as well.
Yes I have seen some of your tshirts. They are "War shirts". We used to wear them with pride. Now people look at us and think what a bunch of bums while making another selfie infront every coffee shop stand they see :)) Also check ins to various places...ha...like anyone on their friend list cares :)
NatassjaInEtern...
Haha, so true. I don't care anymore about what others think. At least here in the middle of nowhere Finland, no one cares. They don't throw salt here, but pure gravel. I actually get holes in the bottom of my boots from it. I need new winter boots every year and sometimes they don't make it through winter. I walk a lot.
The selfie people... Oh my, what happened to this world.... They also seem to like to photograph every meal they eat. I can see if it's something special, but the world does not care about their every meal.
vkok on
yeah the world gone nuts...we now have facebook in our office and people go crazy there too...and its a huge company...imagine how many notifications i get everyday from people posting their activity.
Apparently there is no way to escape this current trend...i even get dragged to take a selfi with people while in a concert or just walking somewhere...its crazy. If i start complaining, everyone starts saying how much of an ass i turned into and should go get my grandpa lunch snack...haha
NatassjaInEtern...
Sounds like you are dealing with total hell. I am glad I avoid people and only see my old friends every couple years in USA . I have seldom friends here in Finland. I must say I am glad none of them are obsessed with this BS. I don't think I could handle it very well. I am too old for it! :)
