Ha - it's not my favorite either but really, since Master of Puppets they haven't had a good album cover. This one at least is better than the Black album, Load, and ReLoad at least. . .

Hm You got a point in a way, but And Justice... was a decent cover, the black one was kind of creative at that time, St. Anger had an ok Cover (which was of course the only thing ok on this record) and Death Magnetic actually had some really cool Cover.
But this is just the epitome of ugliness, sorry. Like a 6 year old fucking around with Photo Shop :D
Not grading it down though of course.

Yeah - if you don't relate the album covers to the music, I've never been a huge fan of Metallica album cover artwork - they've had some great single covers by PusHead but actual album covers, nothing really great. Compared to bands like Maiden that is.

Sure! They lose that battle without a doubt. From that perspective there is pretty much no really great Metallica Cover, perhaps Ride the Lightning.
Not that Metallica are my Band after the Master anyway...

Yeah - too bad they didn't use a number of single artworks as their album covers. Some of the singles are way, WAY better than the albums.
