Patch pricing guideline ?

Hi guys,

I am quite new into the patch buying business and I have already faced some issues approaching others to buy their stuff.

A lot of people ask you to send an offer for the patch. If you do not have a clue about the actual value of a patch the risk is quite high that you offer way to much or less money.

So how do you estimate the worth of patches ? Is there any guideline ? Except checking ebay or other platforms ?

Or is it all about experience ;)

Horns up,

Mo

I agree with you 100% on this about patch pricing. At one stage I thought about initiating a discussion on here about whether the sale prices of items sold here should be disclosed so as people would have an idea as to the going prices for certain items. In the end I gave up as it seemed useless as a lot of people are just out for as much money as they can get.
Personally I have never purchased any metal related item with a view of making a profit of it in the future....it's just not my style. And I have seen plenty of patches and other items I have been interested in posted here with a make an offer tag attached but I am not going to play that game. To me it's a waste of time. Put a price on it, or at least a starting price or near offer. Nothing irritates me more that the "Make an offer, no interest, no reply" Post.

Well said. I agree.

I'd rather discuss with someone because they obviously have a special meaning for wanting that particular item.

same here...i hate this offer-game...ppffff, i even re-sold stuff for the same price, i bought it..., no need to make money with it..., its not my job...

unfortunetly you'll just have to know what you're buying and if you're willing to pay the price or not. European sellers have a serious boner to list everything as "offers only", American sellers (usually) have set prices.

sad...but true...indeed

Thanks for your replies guys. So I am not the only one ... I guess that I will just stick to not sending any offers as long as I am not sure about the worth of an item ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We have to admit that not putting the price is just an ingenious idea that allows sellers to earn more.

There is of course no any specific guideline but I can share my experience. First of all, don't get into rush if you find a patch that you have been searching for some time. You should first google it, look further than just on the first page. Ebay might be helpful as well. Two times I bought patches from sellers, then googled them and realized that they were on sale for a lower price. :p The challenge is that sometimes you cannot simply google them, I have several times found patches in online stores but they were never indexed in the search.

Also a good hint: if you have found a good patch, look for it on this site. Maybe some previous sellers have posted them with the price offers?

And last but not least: there is no risk with offering low price, none will punish you for such offer, keep that in mind. Happy trading!

For a seller the price is never high enough, for a buyer the price is always too high.
