Have you looked on reverb ?

I'll say this, the time to scoop up a classic guitar is definitely in the rear view mirror. I can hardly find anything these days and while companies like Ibanez, BC Rich etc are still alive and well, they don't seem interested in putting the more desireable axes in their back catalogue. There are two on Reverb right now, cheapest one is $999 USD

Looks like they went up in price since a few years ago, still may go for it for the next 5-6 years until thr time for a Rickenbacker comes

I looked at it a few years back, I noticed a local shop had quite a few _new_ ones (from ibanez) in stock... but when I turned it over there was no serial number or ibanez stamp... so i passed on it
it should have the sequence/stamp on the neck plate IMHO

Probably a decision for the best, smart not to risk it when paying 600+ euros
Looks like I'll make due with a Precision until I find a destroyer or save up for a white Rick 4001

I play one in my band. A red 80s P+J setup one. Same style Cronos and Angelripper played. I love it so much it sounds great and feels fun to play. I had to replace the pickups but the originals came stock with DiMarzios so it was easy to replace and keep the original sound.

The ease of upgrade is what drew me to it apart from the looks, although honestly I didn't mind if I found a P+J or just a P one. Good to hear that they sound good even today though, although I could have guessed by the very nice sound Andreas from Vulture got with his one.

I often wonder about this bass. It's an Ibanez destroyer all right, but it has the mirrors like in the classic Akira Takasaki ESP random star. I wonder if they were fans of Loudness and where did he even get those mirrors.

I guess it shouldn't have been hard to tack on pieces of a cut up mirror pickguard on there, albeit we'll never know if Akira was the inspiration behind it unless someone asks Tom in an interview

Those have to be literally taken off of an Akira Takasaki model Random Star. They're the exact same shape. You can see the hole for the pickup selector on Tom's bass. There's no pickup selector there for a Destroyer but there is for a Random Star.

Several years ago, before the pandemic and the Vulture boom, I have the opportunity to snatch one online from the south of the border.
It was a good price at the time, around three digits. Nowadays, if you have to pay 4 digits if there's one pop up.
Looking back, it was a steal. I still have it and I won't get rid of it.
Be patient and it would come to you eventually
