Hello,
I have some gold printed shirts and after a while the print gets green. Does anyone has the same problem?
I've read on a site in internet:
"The metallic gold in screen printing inks is obviously not real gold, but, it's also not entirely real ink. The pigment is made of a mixture of copper and zinc in various proportions. 85% copper and 15% zinc produces a rich pale gold. Larger amounts of zinc will give the ink a greenish shade of gold called rich gold. More copper produces a reddish gold, called pale gold. Metallic silver inks usually contain aluminium particles in various proportions... eventually, after many, many, many washes, the metallic element begins to wash out and ultimately just the pigment remains. What colour is left depends on the metallic mix in the ink. After over a year of hard wearing and heavy washing my tee print is now more green than gold!"
Maybe thats it.. or any other idea?

I have the same problem with a Sabbat Fetishism shirt where the print has only partially turned green and with a Woods Of Desolation shirt where the gold print has turned completely green.
The explanation above should be correct.

Good to know, that I am not the only one. Haven't seen it yet on other shirts and did not find anything in internet, expect that one.

I was also very surprised when I discovered this on the shirts, it must have something to do with the composition of the printing ink and perhaps with which detergents you wash your shirts.
I have many much older shirts with gold print where I don't have this problem.

Yes maybe its not allowed to use softener as well. Don't know. But it`s really a shame if the shirts are old and cool.

A have an old Atlantean Kodex, one of the first, that has the same issue.
Just a bit more drastic

you gotta be careful with other shirts too. I've had a gold/brown print which bled green stains onto a white shirt that was underneath.

I was afraid of that too. I put mine away, they lie separately.
