Best way to remove buttons from denim jacket/vest?

So I have never buttoned up my battlejacket and never plan to, so why do I need the buttons? They're just taking up valuable space... so does anyone know a good way to remove them that won't damage the jacket too much since I want patches to go where the buttons are? I've thought of just taking scissors or knife and cutting them out, but I thought I'd see if there is a better way first!

I used scissors... haha. It came out alright. If you're gonna use scissors, make sure they're sharp as hell. Mine were kinda dull so it required a lot of force to tear the denim, which resulted in me using too much force, and cutting off more than I wanted.

I pulled mine out with some jewelry pliers

just put them over the top and put some strengt on it, you'll hear a pop and they'll come off without any damage to the fabric.

I use a pincers (Kneifzange, Beisszange) and work from the backside, so the head will easily pop away
