Motörhead Kids studded Battle jacket
Mon, 16/03/2026 - 09:58Recently picked up this vintage kids battle jacket, it is in pristine condition and great to see a period piece preserved like this. Always great to see other patches in context too, the dated Gillan patch helps date all the others too. Too small to wear but maybe one to frame.

crazy jacket!! second time seeing this “leather and denim” saxon patch, makes me believe it’s a bootleg as there were confirmed cases of piracy back then. thanks for uploading this relic!

Thanks man, the great thing about finding jackets like this is that you can date or trace some patches more accurately. You can see that the layout was decided before the patches were sewn on so chances are all the patches were bought around the same time, so that Saxon bootleg patch must date from 1981 too, that means that the Maiden one must be from around 1980/81 too.

this is definitely 1980-1981.
these jackets are a lost art, patches on the back and bare on the front. truly old school!

Yeah the style of the jacket too, dark heavy denim and the collar all make it authentic too. The stud work as well makes this a work of art, so much time going into how it all fits together

Yes the Kiss Destroyer Patch is from 1980, it’s shown in a TV Report from Germany from 1980 through the TV Show Schuelerexpress.

What a historic find you got here. That must have been one rockin kid hahaha. Some true gems on here like the blue Maiden + Motorhead laser eyes, not even factoring the historic importance of a vest like this.

Thanks man, yeah pleased with the Maiden patch and the Motorhead one, all the patches work so well together and give a great snapshot of early metal style, It doesn't look like it was worn much, maybe it was made and over a long summer the kid had a growth spurt and went on to another denim jacket.

Yep no front patches, that is the way I bought it. I remember my jacket back in the day I had patches on the back and badges on the front shoulder parts above the pockets and no patches on the front of the jacket.
