only vests which you design yourself and assemble yourself are true.

That Blut aus Nord patch is great.

You're selling whole kutten for 300$ each? Can't say I support the practice of buying a pre-made one myself. Cool jacket though.

I like the patches on this jacket, but I don't think that you're going to get 300 for this. Considering I can get mostly all of these for 112.

Amazing bands though.

Well, 19 patches at about $7 per patch, plus $25 for the jacket, plus $15 for the backpatch, toss in a few bucks for the studs and $15 for Priority shipping, and that totals about $190, give or take. However, it's the LABOR that counts. That labor includes patch shopping besides sewing and stud application with a dart awl and a butter knife. Granted, the patches could be shopped for rather quickly, but I spent some time on this part of the process to custom build the jacket for my best friend. :)

dude that is a $110 labor charge....WAY TOO MUCH, but hey thats my opinion, awesome vest though

Blüdrayne's picture

well it really depends. for example hand painted art would be worth a lot more. chains and lots of studs would, too. but for a simple denim one with patches, probably not...

iambadcompany's picture

well yeah something like DIY is costly but for this I wouldnt spend 300...

Thanks for the comments as they help me get a sense of the market forces in play. It's been an idea that I've been tossing around, nothing more. A fair price does have to be worth the labor involved, however. The most impressive jackets that I've seen have just the right combination of studs and well placed, well thought out patches, so I'm going to try a few more jackets before actually setting up an Etsy lisitng. I do get compliments on my own jacket (the other one with the Celtic Frost BP) all the time, though. So far, I've only made the two, so I need to do a few more designs, as well.

if you really wanna charge for this i would advise you to have a skill hard to get. for example, custom painting leather vests or bleaching denim. that's a bit harder and you'd get more customers that way.

It looks too similar to the other jacket in your uploads...

Agreed. This one was made for my friend, though.
