It's actually a typo. Ultimatum are vehemently and violently opposed to satin! Satin is a hellacious fabric and should be destroyed. Thrash against satin! Will you join our fight? LOL!

What did satan ever do to you? :)
Maddolis on
He invented satin shirts :P

haha whit the US flag on the back it looks like some religious propaganda hahahaha

Everyone has a message in their music. Metal is all about extreme topics, whether they be personal, political, religious, anti-religious, or sex, drugs and rock & roll. Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude or opinion of an individual or group of people. So, if that be true, I guess this is propaganda.
Is a Cradle of Filth shirt with a perverted image of Christ on a cross "religious propaganda"? I would say so.
ultmetal on
Well then "offense" is what their message is. Frankly, I find your response to be ignorant. You honestly don't think they have any religious propaganda in those t-shirts and lyrics? It's about more than just offense. Just by saying "Satan is not real" you are propagating a religious opinion.
I know what Ultimatum are about and WE are far from "gay". The lyrics reflect who we are, what we believe, issue we deal with, or in the case of songs like "Heart of Metal", just plain metal anthems. I don't force my beliefs on anyone from the stage or anywhere else for that matter.
Actually, since "Satan" and evil are the trends in metal and has been for decades, it's the Christian bands that are bucking the trends and are not being the posers.
As for the shirt, it was created by a fan of the band. It is what it is. It's a rarity and collectible for fans of the band.
Adrian on
Well then maybe this shirt was made to offend you.
If you reject all bands based on being religious, you're actually missing out on a lot of talent: early Mortification, Vengeance (who's guitarist is now with Hirax), Believer, Tourniquet (the drummer is widely recognized, not just in Christian metal), Sacrament, and many more.
Even outside the realms of bands who are "Christian", why don't you try listening to the lyrics of bands like say Trouble? Oh and Metal Church, some of their songs are pretty blatant; David Wayne was a Christian in case you didn't know.
My point is, whether you agree with the lyrics or not, all these bands are still metal bands.

Without commenting on the whole christian metal thing (I can't rightly say I have any objection to that outside of my own personal objection to christianity itself), I would like to address the following post;
"haha whit the US flag on the back it looks like some religious propaganda hahahaha"
Many metal bands from Europe brandish their own country's flags all over the place without fear of vilification. Iron Maiden, for example, wave the UK flag all over the stage whenever they play "The Trooper". Tyr also has a shirt that displays the flag of the Faroe Islands. And I have yet to see a band from Finland who doesn't wave the flag of Finland all over the place as well as splattering it all over their merch.
So as one can imagine, as a proud American metalhead, I take exception to the notion that an American metal band can't proudly display their country's flag as do bands from everywhere else.

and we can only raise our flags for football WM without be called a nationalist
BlueEyedBeast on
And what's wrong with being a Nationalist? Unless one is an idiot who thinks Nationalism = NAZIS!!!
But that's a discussion for another day, perhaps.
Bayernpirat
ok, no discussion about Nazis. But I have to say I´m proud about my country and this makes me a nationalist - no more.

I'm an atheist, I don't really care about lyrics either way. I have Mortification right next to Morbid Angel on my CD rack. To each his own. What I think is really silly is when NSBM guys get blasted for their lyrics. It's like it's ok to sing about burning churches down, killing Christians and raping women just don't criticize Jews. Seems hypocritical to me.
ultmetal on
Bingo! It's exactly what it is.

I second this notion.
Maddolis on
Yeah the whole thing gets ridiculous to a point, and I think it's up to people's personal opinions as to where that line is. I was raised as a catholic/christian and attended church for 10-11 years of my life, but I don't mind listening to a good deal of black metal, or anti-religious death metal bands like Hour of Penance/Fleshgod Apocalypse and Atheist.
I do, however, draw the line before CoF's "Jesus is a Cunt" shirt. That thing's fucking ridiculous. Nobody ever forced any beliefs onto me, and as a religious guy (though I havent been to church in a while), I never felt compelled to donate money, or not to swear, drink or whatever, and I think a lot of the active, outspoken atheists don't quite know what they're on about- or, christianity is taken a whole lot more seriously wherever they live.
Anyway I feel I had to get that little rant out of me at a place with people who are seemingly intelligent (as opposed to Youtube). I have no issue with this shirt, and as long as the music's good (which I'll admit to not hearing yet, so I cannot give my opinion on that), then I'll have no less respect for the band.

To you maybe, but since when was your stance the only one counting?
I really find it silly when people get their panties in a bunch becasue of other peoples beliefs. Especially when it comes to metalheads. Metal is all about expressing what comes from inside, and not consort to conformity. But if you wanna stay in your little "comfort zone", then so be it. Just don't for a minute think that you can monopolize what metal is and should be.

Good post.

Too many metalheads are arrogant know-it-alls. You know the ones I'm talking about, people at shows who stand around with their arms crossed, looking like they're having the worst time.
