17 CD releases from this industrial/black metal project from the USA.
Interestingly - and possibly uniquely - Choronzon began as two separate and entirely unrelated bands with the same name: the eastern Choronzon was a Florida based black metal-styled band formed in 1986 by P. Emerson Williams, while its western counterpart Choronzon was the San Francisco old school industrial project of Demitria Monde Thraam formed in 1989.
In 2002, the two respective Choronzons became aware of each other via the internet, and agreed to share use of the name, then decided to go even further and collaborate musically from 2004.
This collection features releases both pre and post the unholy union.

That is hilarious that two bands of the same name found each other and decided to collaborate... music bringing people together! at it's finest!
I've never heard of these groups, any album that you'd recommend as a diving board?
Lord Cthulhu on
It's a weird one, isn't it: I've never heard of that happening before, or since! In terms of where to dive in, I guess their first conjoined release is as good as anywhere - "New World Chaos / Complicity//Simplexity" from 2005. They are a bit mad though - I have a friend who is autistic and this is one of his favourite bands, and he likes some challenging shit - and I think it's fair to say Choronzon aren't everyone's taste!

These guys are pretty crunchy.... hahaha yeah definitely a weird sound!

I read online that the band claim that what they do is not merely music, but also has actual magick acts fused into it. The ″demon″ Choronzon (a demon that originated in writing with the 16th-century occultists Edward Kelley and John Dee within the latter's occult system of Enochian) is cited as an actual member of the project, presenting Choronzon as an anti-hero and demigod, after becoming a reversed Satan in the form of a ″risen demon″.
Crunchy ... and crackers?!
