The red colour could be brighter,i think it´s just bleached out a little bit.
The outlines of the logo are not over painted,even the sizes of both patches are different
It´s definitely not self painted,it´s an official one,saw it a couple of months ago somewhere in the web,but damn,can´t remember where it was!

I also think is has been coloured. That´s why the colour bleached out. A red thread would still be red these days.
Also, we would have seen this version earlier I guess.

Further, you can tell by the border that the right one is the original, old version, therefore the differences in size and proportions.

Size and border doesn´t mean anything. Buy five IM-Peace of mind patches on Ebay and you get five different sizes and three different borders.
