WHOOOOHOOOO! π€π«π€ Arguably the holy grail of Iron Maiden vintage back patches, the extremely rare, and almost impossible to get, licensed Stranger in a Strange Land is finally part of my collection π€―π±π₯³ I'm over the moon to have this stunning back patch in my collection π€ππ€ The patch has been used but is overall in a very good condition. As all vintage back patches, it's stunning, but the obscurity of this back patch gives it that little extra spark to it for me. Also, the details are amazing as can be seen in picture 5, which I put in for our frisky friend Bad_American1992 π
I managed to get this beauty from a former TSS member, who unfortunately decided to leave TSS and quit collecting. I'm happy he decided to let this patch go to me, and I cannot thank the 'Banshee' enough for doing so. Thank you so much my friend! π€ππ€

Haha yes! So pumped you finally got it! Congratulations!

Thanks Seth! You know how it feels to get rare patches for your collection. Opening the package makes you feel like a 5 year old kid at the Christmas tree π

NICE, congrats!! This is my fav designs of the album. I've seen two of these patches on ebay about 1-2 years ago for about $60+ bucks, the other was like $70ish, but I didn't get either, interestingly their printing scheme was slightly different and I'm pretty dang sure they were official. I might have gotten one if either didn't have a burn/charr mark on hem... Really sucks too, it's like a defaced histortical painting...
Personally, whenever I make another Jacket (which would be my 3rd) I think I'll just gut a T-shirt with design, I've spent enough mega cash on this hobby xD. I may even make the jacket have modular/removable backpatches just so I can do the same for Bolt Throwers Realm of Chaos album with the Crimson Fists Space Marines from Warhammer 40k. No way am I gonna gut a vintage shirt that costs several hundred bucks... Heh, and in Bolt Throwers case, no way am I gonna walk around with a multi-hundred dollar Backpatch.

Thanks mate!
Are you sure it was this licensed version of the back patch or the very nice bootleg version (https://tshirtslayer.com/patch/iron-maiden-stranger-strange-land-vintage...) that you could score for $60-70? Like 7 months ago a brand new version of this back patch sold for a whopping 440 euro (~$490). I think that's an outlier but it also reflects a bit how rare this back patch actually is. You just don't see this one popping up.
Gutting a t-shirt and converting it into a back patch is definitely something you can do. There are great designs on t-shirts which don't exists as back patches, so you can have a very exclusive design as back patch. A cheaper alternative than the licensed back patches are the vintage bootlegs, like Stranger in a Strange Land or Two Minutes to Midnight. I think those are great as well.
Regarding the modular/removable back patch, go for Velcro. I have done that for my Maiden bootleg dedication, and another battle vest and it's so nice that you can just alternate between back patches. I first glued on the rough part (with stitching glue) on the vest, and than reinforced it by sewing it on. The soft part I carefully glued, with minimal stitching glue, to the back patch. Everything is very secure and it looks great.

AH, yes then it was the bootleg versions that I saw. And yea, that patch is mega expensive, something I'd keep at home for sure or have a jacket that I only go to concerts with, not day to day wear like my other 2.
Yea, plus the T-Shirts can be a bit more durable than typical patches (and obviously more plentiful.)
Nice, looks like I'm not the only person to consider that. The glue and velcro idea good, I had a few Ideas of keeping things together though they escape me right now.

Sad to hear, the Banshee has left us! ;-( But at least he gave his gems to someone really deserving it, so congrats Jeff for this acquisition, it is simply amazing!!

Thanks for the big compliment my friend! I was surprised he decided to leave the collectors scene and TSS as well. Right before he contacted me and asked me if I was willing to take over some of his collection, and in particular this Stranger in a Strange Land. You can imagine that I was like a kid in a candy store that day, and went mental π π I managed to take over some true gems like this one, sealed Eddie Crunch, and Somewhere on Tour.
I have another set of patches on the way, coming from him, and I can tell you that there is a real rare sealed gem in there π Hopefully soon I can upload it here.

Great patch. Great to hear that Brent left, too.

Thanks man. I'm very happy he contacted me first to take over this patch. If he would have put this up on ebay or here on TSS I had to fight with all the other vultures, and pay much more than the "friend price" I got it for now.π

What for are you calling people vultures?

Woooooahhhh this is so cool man! Congratulations! I know that feeling when you get something you're super excited for in the mail, it's awesome. \m/

Thanks bud! It was an extremely happy day yesterday. I have been waiting on this package for 3 months, which obviously got delayed because of the virus. At some point I was a bit worried this got lost or something, but luckily it got to me. Still waiting for another package from the same former collector. Also that has a true vintage gem π€ππ€
ThomasThrash on
Amazing! Glad they arrived for sure.

This one might be as rare as the Somewhere on Tour! Great score.
I have also benefited from Brent's collection. He did a lot of legwork for me.

Thanks Mate! I was so surprised getting a personal message here on TSS asking if I was interested in the Stranger BP. I thought he was joking but before I knew I was going crazy picking some stuff from his collection.
It seems we both were the ones who took over most of his back patches yes π I think he wanted to make sure they went to a safe place. I think he did a good job on that!π

Congratulations on the score!!! I know youβve been looking for this one for a while!
Heavy Metal Chemist on
Thanks Frankie! Persistence, but most importantly being a member here on TSS is what helped me on this one. Of course the stars had to align, which happened when a former TSS member left. I'm still ecstatic that I have this rare piece in my collection. A definite highlight! π€π«π€ .... But still so that I need in my collectionπ

You finally got it man! Another gem from the Banshee, he blessed me with a few of my most wanted BPs too, great guy. Man this is one killer back patch. I'm amazing by all the details on it especially the little reaper card! That one really takes the cake... who am I kidding though I clicked on this for the big green cyborg titties \m/ Keep these nut-worthy BPs cumming sir!
Heavy Metal Chemist on
Thanks man π€π«π€ Seems like quite some of us got patched up by the Banshee. Indeed a great guy, and I miss him here on TSS π...but thanks to him I could expand my collection with some amazing pieces.
The details are indeed amazing, yes, and those cyborg titties are simple marvelous. When I saw those nipples piercing through her shirt I got reminded of how awesomely detailed these vintage back patches are π
I have one other nut-worthy BP cumming in soon. I can't wait for it...It's a good thing that it's sealed because one I have that on on the table it could become messy π ππ
