I grew up listening to this album on cassette! Still sounds just as brutal today.

You and me both brother! Most fans consider this to be their best album. It was certainly their most straight forward death metal album.

NOCTURNALLLLLLL CREATURES OF THE NIGHHHHHHHHHT!

The intro to Nocturnal is one of the coolest things ever!

Even though I'm not as much a fan of Steve Rowe's vocals on Blood World, that was definitely the album that I listened to the most when I was little. I think it layed the roots for me to eventually get so heavily into thrash metal. For that, it is held in high regard.

Haha, the cover of the selftitled scared me when I was little.

Awesome... I have the clear 7" that went with this album.

I've also got the cover itself, but with the Post Momentary Affliction vinyl inside instead -from an ebay deal where the seller put the wrong record in the wrong sleeve! Would love to have the right vinyl in the right sleeve sometime :)

I used to have this on vinyl, along with the clear 7".

I have been seeing a ton of Mortification entries lately, and since I really dig Christian metal, I thought I would check them out. Thanks for this post, you just helped me discover a great band. 5 STARS!!! Im planning on spending the night listening to this whole album.

Congratulations on discovering a great band! Scrolls and the self titled are their best if you like death metal/extreme thrash metal. I've always been partial to Blood World as well, it's more thrash than death and some of the songs are really good.

My favorite is probably "Hammer of God", followed by "Scrolls", the self titled, "Post Momentary Affliction", "Blood World" and "EvVision EvAngeline". "Hammer of God" is not really death metal. They move more towards thrash metal on it. Martin Popoff's Heavy Metal Collector's Guide rates "HoG" very highly as well. Of their more recent releases, "Erasing the Goblin" and "Evil Addiction Destroying Machine" are my favorites. My least favorite of all Morty releases is "Silver Chord is Severed".

Interseting, I think Ill have to pick up hammer of god and blood world soon because I really like the Scrolls album now. Do you have any idea/ is it possible to find Mortification band tee's anywhere? I would totally dig one. Just let me know if you can.

THE Christian death metal band. They might be extremely preachy, but their music overshadows that big time! Cool LP.
