HEAVY METAL (1981) giant advance movie poster 53x75 U.S.
cool old movie. the only "heavy metal" in the movie is Dio era Black Sabbath's "Mob Rules", (first time i heard Black Sabbath) my parents took us kids that year to the drive in double feature with the re-release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. the other bands on the soundtrack are "hard rock" (Blue Oyster Cult, Sammy Hager, Nazareth, Grand Funk Railroad, Cheap Trick)
1981 was the last gasp of the hippy/stoner/hesher counter culture in america and heavy metal became mainstream before MTV arrived and started playing Ozzy, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister.
