Well, Hoyer used to be one of the oldest guitar manufactures in Europe. Established in 1874 in Germany, they started building luthes and zithers but soon started building acoustic and folk guitars, archtops and finally electric guitars, all of them of very high quality. This lasted till 1987, the final year. The company was sold a couple of times; these days it belongs to a UK based company: some models are still build in Germany, but most are produced in Korea. They look very nice, but collectors want the old ( and hard to find) originals made in Germany. Would love to have a V and an Eagle, but they're getting harder and harder to find and are quite expensive. Anyway, the Explorer is almost impossible to find these days: they were made in very low numbers, mine being number 37 !!!
