Hey all, i'm sure many of you want classic designs from your favorite bands to be reprinted. i'm curious to know if bands did bring those designs back, how many of you guys would instantly buy them? Would you guys be okay with the "Distressed" look?
Of course I would buy them if the quality was right. Unfortunately, this is the main problem with new shirts which all too often makes me buy the original shirts for ridiculous prices. For instance, I instantly bought some of the Megadeth re-prints (Hangar 18, No More Mr. Nice Guy). I had to learn that Megadave put more effort into erasing the Repka signature than into a worthy transfer of the original artwork. The result is a gritty print that might be official, yet lousy and of less quality than several bootlegs I own. It's a shame that bands churn out new and characterless designs instead of providing their fans with the originals they crave.
yea I do and have. Metallica have released a whole bunch from the 90s and I got 3 or 4. I like them without the "Distressed" look myself. I have also got a few bootlegs of old tee's they are normally abit shit, but at a gig you cant tell HAHAH
I would instantly buy em...if the quality is ok, shirt- and print-wise!!! I know, many bands dont have the rights on older designs...thats the main problem with reissues. Many of em..even if they would reprint some...they cant...because of permissions. And the company X or Y gives a fuck on reissues old shirts. ....even if they could make money with it...i dont get it..hahaha *facepalm*
And yeah, like many others say: I have bootlegs at home which are way better then official reissues of some shirts.
Its not my fault that the most newer designs look crap. .....make good designs and ill buy official new shirts too...but.....well ;-)
So, yes. I would buy reissues instantly if i could get them!!
I dont like the 'Distressed' look of some reissues (some Mötley Crüe shirts come in mind..or a Anthrax one..u can get from EMP)....
where is the point??....it will fade out and the print will crack by itself with time....every1 can see its not THE original from 1988 ....ppfff
Lets make old prints 1:1 ..or maybe change the colour-theme a little bit..to make a difference...., i can live with that
(like the Benediction Reissues of Dark is the season....)
I would and have bought some, I have no problem with designs being available consistently. Definite no to "distressed" look, not going to touch those. Fake poser shit. Things wear out on their own too soon anyways.
I can't really speak for t-shirts, but I think it'd be awesome to see a comeback of the oldschool type of multicoloured screen print/rubber patches, with segments of detail layered on top of each other. Like old shirts, the only problem with em is degredation and scarcity over time, they could really be done justice if made today (neither of the photos are mine)
I’m always open to a reprint, but it needs to be done properly and professionally by someone who truly understands how to reconstruct graphics for screen printing. While some bands excel at delivering quality reprints, others unfortunately fall short.
In my experience, a major factor is that many bands simply don’t value their history—let alone care about their old merchandise designs.
I have numerous reconstructions ready for reprinting, but obtaining permission or even establishing contact is often challenging, especially with bands that have long ceased to exist.

+1. I love these patches! I hate the way the new ones look.

I like re-prints. Usually cheap.
