saw vomit forth in zurich this weekend, excellent set, my kind of music (bought a shirt!). even though I only saw about ten mins of it (came 10 mins late and they stopped 10 mins earlier). the vocalist at times was pretty rude, mostly unsuccessfully trying to incite the crowd to form a circle pit (understandable at 3 oclock in the afternoon). apparently the swiss pit did not impress him.
intrigued, I went online and found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS5sqbfkMFE.
is this a normal kind of pit (in the US)?

I mean it looks like he was doing the exact same thing in this video (2:50). I find the hardcore dancing or whatever was going on in the pit in that video unbelievably cringe. But what do they expect when they’re always touring with shitty metalcore bands? There are some great crowds here in the US, it just depends on the venue and the band. Here’s a clip I took from an Undergang show in NYC, no stupid hardcore dancing, just a room full of maniacs headbanging, moshing, and stage diving, it was great. https://youtube.com/shorts/vxqWU0Sq2Xc?si=-o0MAgKn0iprTc8m

thanks all. 'hardcore dancing' and 'pit ninjas' seem to appropriately describe this kind of obscure crowd behaviour. needless to say, I don't see this kind of thing over here, nor in any brutal assault or obscene extreme etc. videos online. and it's not as if I haven't myself broken any bones in initially enjoyable mosh pits because of the odd cunt escaped from the nuthouse. I showed this video to a mate who's particularly into NY punk and loves the occasional pogue, wall of death etc. and even he agreed that most guys in that 'pit' are obviously lunatics or boneheads. no wonder there are no women there and 97% of the audience stand in a horseshoe so far away from the band they probably can't even hear them properly. on the other hand, can't say that the band don't encourage their audience to ruin the experience for everyone else at the gig either. pity really, I really like the music.
