Hail,
an idea just came to my mind and I am interested what the general opinion about this would be - especially yours, Doc, obviously.
How about a new category, and thus a new type of item, to add to the site in general? Namely:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
F A N Z I N E S.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Of course it is called Tshirtslayer for a reason, and not Merchslayer or Memorabiliaslayer, but Zines have always been and still are an absolute essential part of this best of this glorious culture and still: It's not records (which makes absolute sense not to put in an extra category).
Knowing that some folks on here are in the scene for many decades and in some cases were involved in it really deep (I am looking at You, Nisse!) I would be more than excited to see some really cult gems dug up from the dusty treasure chests of our members. Specifically seeing Zines from all around the world and from Metal scenes of other countries. I am particularly thinking of Greece and South America here.
I a m absolutely conviced this would be a really valuable addition to the site and could enrich the experience here on a complete new level.
Like with Merch the page would also become a digital museum for Metal fanzines of all kind.
Last but not least it would make room for an opportunity to sell and trade old issues of Zines, that are long out of print. And if you are collecting zines you know how much of a pain in the ass it can be to find copies of a Zine back catalog. Often times it's almost impossible. At least I do not know of something like a Zine-Marketplace.
Curious to hear your thoughts, Objections and Hate messages.

Having a manner in which to display ephemera specifically would be pleasant but as with every innovation or change with the site it takes a massive manner of work/financial support in order to create such additions per the request of users; that said I would massively enjoy such a tab but as I stated, it takes time, effort, and currency at the will of massively limited developers to do so.

Thanks for your input. I am no programmer but actually I cannot imagine it is such a big hassle to add another category. A new feature is something else, like adding the current shirt you wear for example, but in my expectation this would be ... well just adding a new category.
With no intention of disrespect of course. If i am totally wrong and this takes weeks of hard work and Terrabytes of server capacity, I didn't say anything. But I really do not think so.
As for the financial aspect I agree in general, I would never have made a proposal without being a supporter, for that matter.

I would have to agree it is not a massive undertaking for a team of people to do so, but just saying that such changes are no one's full time job, rather a passion or a thing that requires upkeep if you get my drift. Anyone who works on the site has a seperate life, so the massive manner of work is relative to this being a second job/passion rather than their primary occupation. I'm not sure on the degree of hassle or work specifically as my dev/programming skills are more by proxy than direct, but it's just the time available by the people who would work on it. And no disrepspect taken in the least; I know exactly what you mean and should have clarified the degree of my description more specifically! You're all good man I know exactly what you mean. And as for the support aspect I couldn't agree more, you are all good man and the support you show and involvement on here is admirable to say the least. Any shadow of doubt I cast in the least on your ideal prospect was not meant in the least, I was just considering the logistics; Cheers from the U.S. and hopefully a new category can be implemented! Have a great day man!

Haha, don't worry man, I mainly meant Doc and the team, not to play down the amount of work that would be necessary for this new feature. And I do not know if I show anything like an extraordinary amount involvement here. Just a user who really enjoys this place. All good from my side as well!
But I totally agree with you, that this whole page is of course "just" a side project and an absolute passionate one. So I would really like to hear what Doc D. thinks about this. Also very fortunate that you're in the developer profession, then there is at least a little bit of insight for an absolute layman like me haha. I just cannot estimate it at all, it was more of a gut feeling, that it's a rather quick addition.
So it's great and valuable to have your additional perspective.
Cheers, man, you too!

I'm glad nothing came across as insensitive or worrisome that's nothing anyone needs and I'm glad it wasn't conveyed as such! And as for the 'just' a side project part, it is not to downplay how amazing this site is, simply to say it does not pay the rent haha. The passion is felt most assuredly and that is the driving spirit of the community to be sure.
I would love to hear the Doc speak on the concept as well; as I am not of the dev profession but thank you for the provided credit! Like I said, my learning is more just from exposure via friends rather than first hand. I agree the addition could potentially be quick, but the software that runs the site along with interface/style in which it is put together so it is all the difference, so I am not sure on how involved the process would be; as I was considering it is not just a new category but a new filter, tag, criteria depending on how in depth the category decides to be in its description (which isn't to say it is difficult in nature just the amount of things to be considered for the addition). But then again I could be overthinking it completely and it could be as simple as we want it to be; that would be amazing to be sure.
And thank you for the receptiveness to the input, civility and care is much appreciated regardless of the context and on here it's near expected but still nice to see! I'm glad you provided this concept to the forums, if only for the conversation it has produced if not the possibility of a new category!
